Found me a new CCW gun today. (range report)

Went shopping at the RK gunshow today. I was looking for a good deal on a 642 but came home with this.

S&W 442 shown here with my Kershaw Blur.

    Nice Smith! I just bought myself a "snubbie", too. I've always carried an auto but I'm going to try this one for a change. It's a Colt Detective Special like new with two sets of grips.

    Went to the range today and found out that this little .38 is pretty accurate. 15 feet equaled a half dollar sized group from a rested position. Point of dead at 15 yards while standing. Double taps at that range was resulting in double torso shots. Good enough for me.[:D]

    I'd like to note that this was purchased new. I got to say that the fit and finish wasn't up to par. The forcing cone looked like it was cut flush with a plasma cutter. The front of the cylinder had scrathes on it when the forcing cone was originally against it. Other than that it was very nice.

    I'm still not sure about the Colts cylinder release. it can catch on your holster and be in the released position when drawn. Smiths you have to push forward and have a low edge profile while the colts work back and have a lip on the release. I pulled my colt out a few times for practice and the cylinder came open. Could be the lefty holster, but kinda got me wondering...

    Nice. I've carried one since 1997. No PC lock. Love it. Tried the belt clip, didn't like it. I use a holster or fanny pack. It's my most usual carry gun.
