    As a Hoosier I grew up loving Coach Knight. I hated it when he left IU but realized it was time for him to move on. I thought IU blew it in the way they handled his firing and by hiring Mike Davis. I wish Knight and the University could make up and rename Assembly Hall after him but that will never happen. IU is too politically correct to ever have something on their campus named after him.

    I hope he can enjoy his retirement and wish him the best. Maybe now I can put away my Texas Tech hat.

    Not only 902 wins but coached the last college team to go undefeated (IU, 1976),eleven Big10 championships, 1 Gold medal in the Pan-am games, and 1 olympic gold medal. Not to mention he had a high graduation rate with his players and ran a clean program. He also donated lot's of his money to charities.

    As a Purdue grad I saw a lot of coach Knight in the early eighties. Actually saw the chair throwing incident. One thing about coach Knight was that his players were student athletes. He was tough but genuinely cared about the players as people. One of his players (Landon Turner) was in the hospital at the same time as my father. My dad had an accident and had broken his neck and was in the same area. Coach Knight was there quite often checking in on him.

    The end of an era for sure.

    I wouldn't hesitate to have my son play ball for him! Would it be tough? Hell yeah! But that is OK. He did graduate his players. Read tonight where only 4 of his players that stayed 4-years failed to graduate! That is since 1965!!!

    Was he tough? Yes. Was he a little over the top? Yes, at times. Was he a great coach and did he care for his players? Absolutely.

    Why did he resign in the middle of the season?

    Must have been caught, either with a live boy or a dead girl.

    Knight behaved like an ill mannered 9th grade boy who deserved, and needed, three licks across his butt with the paddle swung by the football coach.
    Besides the chair throwing incident, I saw an interview with Jeremy Schaap in which Knight behaved like an ill mannered bully.
    His neighbor videotaped an incident a few months ago in which Knight's birdshot was falling on this guy's property, and he was requesting that Knight cease and desist from shooting his shotgun in this manner. As usual Knight was rude and a bully.
    What a punk. If I were a university president I wouldn't want a guy with these psychological problems to be representing my school.

    Bobby Knight was good at his job.

    He was aggressive, volitile, and a phenomenal coach and motivator. As a UNC fan, he caused me some heartache but I know he is one of the elite coaches.

    Let him who is without sin chunk the first rock.
