President Signs Bill to Strengthen Brady Background Check System

The first major piece of national legislation to reduce gun violence in more than a decade was signed into law yesterday. Thank you for making this success possible.

After the Virginia Tech tragedy, with your help and support, we asked our leaders, "What are YOU going to do about gun violence?" They responded. This new law helps make it more difficult for dangerous people to get their hands on deadly weapons.
The Virginia Tech killer was able to arm himself because the court order that should have blocked his gun purchase was not forwarded from the state to the federal Brady background check system. This law will help ensure that records like these don't fall through the cracks resulting in yet another tragedy of lost lives.
Much more work lies ahead for your Brady Campaign. We will closely monitor the implementation of the legislation to make sure that it is as effective as it can be. And we continue our efforts to pass universal Brady background checks on all gun sales, including closing the gun show loophole.
We deeply appreciate the courage and strength of the Virginia Tech families who lost loved ones on April 16th or who were injured. Many of them signed a powerful letter to Congress and joined us on Capitol Hill on the sixth-month anniversary of those shootings calling for the passage of this legislation. The efforts of all the families involved were critical to this victory.
Our special thanks go out to Representative Carolyn McCarthy and Senators Charles Schumer and Edward Kennedy for their leadership on this legislation.

This was not an act to stop violence, it was designed to disarm veterans, most of whom have "questionable" feelings about this and many previous administrations who have hung them out to dry. I also witnessed a news story on FOx NEws the other day that some college was mandating a psychological evaluation as part of the admittance requirements.

I would personally love to send thousands of dollars in lead, a precious metal (read a hard currency) your way, but the way the laws are setup it wouldn't be legal.

After an event like that, one must say hey do I cower like a bitch and wait for the cops to come? Do I run away praying that I wont get hit? Or do I stand up take aim and blow the perps head off? I'll tell you what I'm doing to stop gun violence, I have bought a bigger gun!

Don't worry Sarah honey, I believe our commitment is greater than yours, I believe the law should bitch smack you, every thing you represent is a violation of the Constitution. And further more I don't understand how such an honorable man as your husband could marry such a stretched out sack of chit such as yourself, it is obvious to me that your husband was ready willing and able to give his life to do his job. His job much like mine is to be an American and he was a damn fine one, you mam are a disgrace to your husband and America.
