I have the above and do not think it kicks too much but have read it will hammer you.

I was shooting near full loaded reloads.

Well then you have got a good combination going with it. Have you shot it over a chronograph so as to know just what velosity you are getting out of the reloads? What weight bullets are you shooting, they should be the same weight that you would hunt with? Was there any other question?

Depends a lot on the design of the stock. I have a M77 338. I had it Mag-na-Ported and it helped a lot. In stock form it kicked a heck of a lot less than a Remington 700 in 7mm mag.
