Turning in my badge

For the last couple of years I've been giving a local police dept. the benefit of my law enforcement expertise. (To say I've been working part time sounds so [:I]) However I have decided to pursue other interests. I'm going to miss working long hours for no appreciation while being underpaid. It's going to be tough not feeling like no one really wants you around unless they are getting their butt kicked. However, I feel that at last I'm up to the challenge. I know it will mean me having to spend more time hunting and fishing. I may even have to spend evenings on the front porch talking with my wife of nearly 21 years. But I guess it is just the price I'm going to have to pay. We can't be the publics' hero forever. I'm sure they will find someone younger and more eager than me to take my place. May God be with Him. [:D]

    21 years is a long time....
    Time to retire...persue other ventures with your new-found time.

    I am about 4 years behind you after 26 years in police work (Military and Civilian). Can't hardly wait.

    10.5 more years to go till I can retire. Probably won't though. Can't imagine any other job being this much fun.

    I know what you mean, I 've been doing the same thing fulltime for 30+ years. My wife ask me several times a month when I am going to retire ( I could have left nearly 2 yrs ago) but at age 51 and no where else to go for medical benefits, I have stayed right where I am. Still carrying the badge and having fun with the younger troops.
    Congrats on your move, hope you have lots of ammo, worms and targets.
