it happens every 10 to 15 years, we'll be out of it in 5 to 7 years, the good news is that you can buy houses at a low price when this thing rock bottoms then sell them for a massive profit on the recovery

Yeah I'm confused about that, too. with house values dropping the way they are, how do they justify raising property taxes on us?

    Shooot!
Unemployment is up to 5.0% Boo-Hoo.

This is not a recession. The media would like you to think it. The Democrats would like you to think it. They have to say America is headed down the toilet. The war is Iraq is doing better. Democrats cannot whine about that. They have to whine about something. SOmething has to be Doom and Gloom. The economy is the new target. THey WILL recreate the Misery Index, cause life under President Bush has been miserable (to them).

5.0% unemployment is not a recession. Look at the unemployment level during the first Clinton term. This is Mickey Mouse Cornflakes!!

House prices are down. So? It's an opportunity to BUY a home. Interest rates aren't that high and they are going to be coming down! Opportunity!!!!!!

The dollar is low. Imports and oil are high. BUT grain prices are up for farmers. The steel industry is THRIVING! Manufacturing inside the USA is doing great!!! The unions are having a hard time to use the "Blame Bush" mantra.

This isn't so much as a recession as the people who made poor choices over the last 10 years are facing the repercussions. If you spent too much for a house, your paying for it. If you were stupid enough to get an adjustable rate mortgage and not realize what it will really be costing a couple of years later, your dealing wiht the bad decision.

In a recession, unemployment is high. In a recession, you cannot find a job.

    This is not a recession.

Recession has a definition. I suggest that one would learn what that is before claiming that the sky is falling.

Do not even think about buying a home unless you insist on losing money.

    Simple investment.
Buy when it has bottomed not going down.
Never try and guess where the bottom is.
Always buy looking at the bottom going away from it.
Better to buy at 10% above the bottom on a rising market than find out what you thought was the absolute bottom was just another floor on the way to the basement.

If you look at quotes from investment experts on the 29 crash when the market hit 300 they exclaimed this was the bottom of bottoms and anyone that did not invest now as a fool.
it dropped another 250 points to 50!!!!!!

Because here in Indiana we're paying taxes on what our property was worth in 2006.Next year if they do their jobs right and our property value drops this year our bills should go down. What sucks this year is because our county (Clark County) is so bass-ackwards they just now sent out the 2006 tax bills due in full by Feb. 15 with half the 2007 bill due in May. So this year we will have to pay for two years worth of property taxes and on top of that, we usually have no idea what our taxes are going to be so it's hard to budget for it.

yeah...it`s on the news here every night that the u.s. economy is in recession. the only thing saving us is the resorces boom...we would be in our worse recession ever if it was`nt for the fact that we can`t give our resorces to the chinese quick enough!...why we don`t process our minerals and sell the finished product to the world ourselves i will never know!every time a ship leaves one of our ports we loose jobs!...

I heard the Stock Market crashed 250 pts earlier this week but haven't heard a peep on it in the regular news.

Also the value of Gold is going way up. Never a good sign.
