Where does SA fit in the 1911 clone hierarchy?

I was reading the thread on RIA's and I wondered where my 45's fit in the line up. I recently got a Springfield Armory Ultra Compact which I haven't fired yet. The other is a Firestorm that has always functioned for me.

    I just laid hands on a Springfield Armory Loaded Champion stainless. Nice. I hope it is a good one, because it was expensive.

    IMHO, Springfield is head and shoulders above RIA and Firestorm in overall quality. No comparison.

    Springfields are very nice guns. My brother has a Champion and loves it.

    I just like my Rock's due to the cost factor and still getting just as reliable of a gun.

    That is why I have allways said that my Rocks are just as dependable as a Colt, Kimber, SA, and the likes. They are all fine guns it is just that mine cost less.

    I've shot an older version of the current TRP. It was by far the best 1911 I have ever handled.

    Springfield puts out a great 1911.

    Of all my 1911s my Colt is the most inaccurate.

    My Home builds are the most accurate.

    The Firestorm is the worst I have had.

    The very best I have had the pleasure of shooting was a Les Baer.

    I really like Kimber.

    You get what you pay for and any 1911 can be made dead on accurate with a storm lake barrel for 130.00 proven by the ransom rest.

    I know the Firestorm isn't a particularly high quality gun, but as I said, I've never had a any issues with it. Semi auto pistols don't get a second chance with me. If I have a malfunction with one and there is no obvious, correctable cause, it's gone.

    What is a TRP ?

    A tricked out Springfield. I believe it stands for either Tactical or Terrorist Response Pistol. They run about $1700. I shot one several years ago. I remember the price being more like $2100. Too expensive for my blood but I've never shot anything like it. I've had the pleasure of shooting, but not owning, some very nice custom 1911s. The TRP out shoots everything I've ever handled.

    If you plan on keeping the firstorm the main issue with them was the springs.
    Get a new set of springs installed and they make good inexpensive shooters.

    I remember whan they were selling NIB for 225.00.
    That was only about 3 years ago.

    They sold fast too because where could you find a 200.00 new 1911

    Majority of the Springfield 1911's are made in Brazil by Imbel with some custom shop work performed in IL on the higher dollar ones.
