Neil Young is upset that his new video documentary of his recent anti-war album tour hasn't seemed to have much effect.
Neil was quoted as saying "I don't think it changed anyones vote. Political songs aren't working anymore."
Well Neil, I couldn't agree more. Shut up and sing. Go back to the 1970's and write us some sappy love songs. Nobody really cares what you think about politics.

Singin' songs never did change anything.
Yeah, those protest songs provided an ethereal soundtrack to the 60's and 70's, but I can't think of a single instance where "Ohio" or "For What It's Worth" caused an actual policy change.
They were, however greaat for smokin' dope to.
In My Humble Opinion, one may write a moving musical manifesto at any time in history, but pointing to that song as effecting any real change is deluded arrogance.0 -

I'm a fan of Neil Young's music. No, really.
But the funniest thing I ever heard on the radio was back in the early 80's in the Norfolk area. Henry "The Bull" DelToro's morning show ran a spoof ad,
"Neil Young's Cat Sings The Best Of Neil Young"
You'd hear the intro to, say, "Down By The River", then the ungodly yowling of a cat in heat.

Neal Young is a great song writer an musician. I even like to hear him sing, can't explain that because he does have a crappy voice.
I smuggled a camera in to a concert in Atlanta once, had a 200 mm telephoto lens and got some great photos.0 -

I'm old Neil Young fan myself. My acoustic guitar playing style is heavily influenced by him. Had a pics taken at a Houston concert circa 1975, but have apparently lost it over the years & divorces. I'd love to buy a copy of one of yours.0 -

I like Harvest Moon myself....but I wouldn't expect to learn anything politically by any entertainer. Same goes for the Dixie Chicks, Tom Cruise, Stevie Wonder and Jane Fonda.
I can only say Sonny Bono is the only entertainer that had the answer to this....run for office yourself. (but stay off the slopes!)0 -

Ya gotta hand it to Neil. He had 2 hit songs (Down by the River and Southern Man) that had lead guitar solo's that consisted largely of plucking ONE note over and over. SHEER GENIUS!0 -
