thinking about an Eo-tech sight

Thinking about geting an eo-tech sight for my poney gun (colt) ar-15.

worth the money? or should I spend the money on something else?

    absolutely worth the money. You can get the AA battery style model 512 for about $300 now if you don't plan on using Night vision.
    I have one on my AK and plan to mount one on my AR and HK53 clone once they arrive.

    They are great; I have had mine for a few years and no problems. I haven?_Tt checked but if there is a substantial price difference I would opt for no night vision, the 512 model. Unless of course you plan on mounting an NV device.

    The Eotech Sights are Excellent and worth the expense.

    I have several and sold probably 250-300 of them over four years that we were dealers and never had a single issue or problem with them. Well worth the money.

    On my next AR, ill probably go with an Aimpoint, or an Eotech. Heard nothing but good things about them.

    Other than some versions being night vision compatible, the other differences I see is that some work on AA batteries and others work on the high-dollar camera batteries. I think I would opt for AA. What about you?

    The main difference between the two appears to be that the AA version is a bit longer.

    Didn't know they had a magnification option. Is that an add-on, or do they make the sight with the magnification option?

    It's an add-on, and pretty expensive. It seems to me that magnifying the image sort of defeats the purpose of a reflex sight.

    I have one and really really like it, but I do not like it on AR style platforms. I know many that use them and love them on the AR, but it is not for me. I have tried it several times on many different AR style platforms and have never been happy. The site is wider then the rifle and sits funny for me. I have my Holo on a converted HK USC, and if I find another rifle that I like it on I will put one on it. Make sure to get the one that takes AA batteries.

    For the 2 AR style rifles that I do have any kind of sites on I have gone with the C-More site. They have a thinner and lower profile. I am not sure if the C-More site is as stout as the Holo, but I do believe that it carries a NSN number as well. Other nice thing about the C-More is you can find them for about $200.

    Some military guys say they like the shorter ones with the camera batteries also because they can stuff lots of extra batteries into places liek the vertical foregrip, etc.
    IMO, the only reason (outside of military ops) to go with the shorter models is to make room for Night vision and/or the 3x or 4x scope on a platform that has a short rail.

    These sights are awesome. Both eyes open...your brain automatically keeps your rifle on target...wherever you look, you are ready to fire.

    He got for Varmint/target shooting. Its pretty slick, if you wish to go longer range and can't quite see what your shooting at it attaches in 5 seconds.

    I do not know if it is standard or after market but the one magnifier I saw had a quick flip. If you did not want to use it you pushed a button and it tilted out of the way. If you want to use it again you just flip it back up. Takes less then a second to do. They seem really cool, but I would rather spend the ~$500 on a real scope.
