The sky is Falling.

allright guys, in the last two weeks i have seen 2 things fall from the sky. Went to try and find them but no luck. One was while i was at work. Just a small streak of light about 50-75 yeards in front of me, something fell to the ground. Then last night at about 3 AM, i went out to get a pack of cigarettes, i pull up to the stop sign, same deal only closer. Small not particularly bright streak of light, pulled over, gave a quick look, no luck. Any one have any idea what could i could be seeing?

    It seems if thing keep going the way they are 2012 may come early. Two major earthquakes and no a 6 in Turkey. I better dig out my "End is Near" sign. [}:)][}:)]

    Meteors.
    They hit the earth all the time.
    It would be good if you could find one, they are worth big bucks.

    Do they have metal in them? I would invest a small cheap metal detector. Any idea where i can find values or are they all different?


    Edit, I just googled them, about 180 bucks for a 1inch by 1 inch piece of meteor.

    ABSOLUTELY!!! That is how most are found. They are mostly IRON. go to "youtube" and search "METEOR PROSPECTING" That'll give you some great info to go on. Typically, A 4 Oz. Meteor, is worth about $1K [:0]

    yeah..and you should see some sort of sign of where they hit the ground to.you were lucky to see them that close.

    I'm going to go out on a limb here: did you hear the object fall through the air (similar to a bullet swish)? Feel or hear the impact? Did you see the object at the front of the streak? Was the "streak" brilliantly colored?

    If totally silent both times, then you may have occular "streaks" due to an eye problem.

    Get checked for glaucoma. It's a long shot, but if it is, get it nipped in the bud. Best, Joe

    Also..I kept seeing phantom images out of the corner of my left eye. Eye MD said it's because my new glasses were polarized and coated in such a way as to cause such an effect when the light hit the back of my glasses "just so". Rare, he said, but not totally uncommon. Changed glasses, phantoms went away. Joe

    Some the size of a pea can give off a lot of light when entering the atmosphere. Not doubting what you had seen, but alot of the time the trajectory path after burn out can be tens of miles with the illusion that it is much closer.
