Who has shot the star out at the amusement parks?

I've been trying that game for years and years, and I still can't get every bit of the red star out. I've been told you go around the points and perforate it and then blast the center out to pop the whole star out.

So, who's won and what's the secret?

    Played it dozens of times and have never won. The fact that those guns don't shoot straight doesn't help.

    I've heard they use a high cotton count paper that avoids a lot of rips.

    They did a spot on the news about carny games several years ago, to prove the air rifle games were impossible they got some hot shot target shooter to try and kill the star. Apparently it can't be done. I know I didn't do well.

    I've done it many times. You cut a CIRCLE around the star & NEVER touch it. I haven't seen one of those things in quite a long time though.
    The last part has to be at the top.

    I remember the old game they had at the amusment parks where they had three oblong circles at an angle & you had to get the bullet into the red without touching any of the red.
    Impossible unless you leaned your head & the rifle to the same angle as the circles. Then you had plenty of room up & down & only had to worry about sides. They used to cut me off on both those games after I would win just a couple of times.

    We used to have this game using a crossbow to shoot the bullseye (down the beach on the boardwalk). Of course all the sights were off and they used different lenght/weight bolts. I used to keep track of what bolt shot where (kinda like card counting), then just used "Kentucky" windage when using that bolt over again. Used to win all the time. But they would cut you off once you started winning.

    Hey guys, I actually did it about 12 years ago at the NY State Fair. My daughter(12 at the time)bugged me to "play that game" every thime we went to a fair or field day for her because she was well aware of my passion for guns and hunting(had taken her woodchuck hunting many times)I couldnt believe it, I won. she picked out the biggest blue stuffed elephant, that was almost as big as she was, that i had to carry around ALL DAY LONG!!!! Awsome memory though, oh to have her back at 12 again[:)]

    I tried shooting the paper loose from (clip)the target. So when it was pulled back NO star-didnt work I guess no humor lol. Seems like the bores on these guns are a lot bigger than a BB. Eddie

    It's funny how the occaisional flyer would go 2 feet to the right or left

    Nice one modtodd82. Did you go all the way around the star without touching it to win?

    I also found this original gun for sale and they're saying they sell for around 1,100.00$
