This past weekend was my first time shooting my AR, i definately need some work, but i was happy with how i did, just need some fine tuning now. I do notice i rush some shots, i need to take more time.

You are new to AR's, I don't think I've shot anything under 200 yds in years with an AR. I generally shoot in 2 CMP matches here that are at 200,do best in sitting position,not so hot standing, mediocre prone. If you have a scope on that set up at 100 and take your time, you should be in the 1" group in no time. 0 -
My Oly Ar was shooting a group about like your were at approx. 50 yds, off hand, peep sights with Armscor M193 Ball. 0 -
I plan on adding a scope and a bipod. I need a High Rise mounting block for my scope though, the front bell hits the handguard. 0 -
I put a YHD riser block set on mine and it works pretty nicely. 0 -
I think that center whiote circle is 1 inch, when i put my scope on there, id like to keep 10 shots in that cirlce. 0 -

Yea an EO tech is on my list to purchase, theyre just damn expensive, Ive got a lot on my list to buy though, a Sig 9mm, another .45, another AR upper, A Colt AR lower, An EO Tech, maybe a few other little things, but that basically it.0 -

They are from a bench, i could lie and say ofhand but thats not me.
I just need some work. I think if i use a smaller target next time, i will be a little more precise. Im going to start using playing cards for targets, aim small, miss small.0 -
If I remember correctly milspec for an M16 rifle is an absolute max of 4 in. at 100 yds.
In other words, when shooting from a rest a 2 in. group at 50 yds. is large.0 -

THanks, thats what ill be shooting for now! Im going to try open sites at 100 yards next weekend. I have to move my gun a little bit after each shot, because the range has a rule of only one round in the gun at a time, so each time i move i lose my spot where i am aiming at.0 -
There are all sorts of things that you need to check and compare to see if that was a good group.
Ammo what type and weight.
What twist Barrel do you have.
How is your trigger.
Just mine did not like 55Gr bullets went to 62 and had a Marked improvement.
My trigger sucked, put in a new drop in and need to go to the range. but is that did not help I need to shoot myself[B)]. That trigger feels great[^]
I you are just now for the 1st time using the iron sights. Working on your sight Picture will help also.0 -
I love the trigger on my DPMS lower. It is just fine. Ive got an Hbar upper with 1/9 twist. Ive been using Reminton UMC .223 55gr ammo. Its all they have locally, id like to try some 62gr, and see if that makes any difference. 0 -

Well ive got another range i go to called Knights Shooting, but you pay by the hour and i almost always feel rueshed there, and its a little tight, theres not that many lanes, i basically go there when i need to waste like 400 rounds in an hour. At Woming Antelope Club, you pay 20, shoot all day, they have maybe 15 100 yard lanes, 15 50 yard lanes, 15 25 yard lanes, then the rest is for pistol and that maybe another 20 lanes. And its all outdoors. Im going to sign up for a membership there, its 170 a year, and you can shoot all day for 3 bucks, and you can bring a guest in for 20 bucks, Under 18s shoot for free.
Edit: Guest come in for 10 bucks not 20.0 -
At those costs, are there any shooting clubs in your area.
My local range is $7.00 for all day or $100 to join for a year. If I was sure that I would be working 4 tens the rest of the year and had Friday Off I would join.
Indoor Pistol range its $25 per day or $12 per day and $85 per year membership.
But if I'm low on Funds I do live in Oregon and I live in the Hills so there is plenty of places to go shooting.0 -

Useing a Red Dot scope I shoot very close to 2 inch groups at 50 yrds, I'll usually pull on or two outside the 8 ring but thats fine by me. 0 -

Yep, open sights. Of course, that was about 20 years ago.
Loaned my AR to a buddy. He called and said the AR wouldn't group.
Went down to his place, checked out the AR, went to the range. Ammo was M193 from the 70's. He said, if he hadn't seen it, he wouldn't have believed it.0
