Is snopes really a good source for information? Could snopes be biased? Does Micheal Moore have anything to do with snopes?

    Educate me. Snopes is a website, right? I have a tendency to cross-reference my findings on any website to check for accurateness.

    My question is: why is Snopes so often used as the final authority in fact-finding? Thanks, Joe

    I use it, but do not always believe what they claim is false.

    Each thing that I refere to for people to check Snopes, I have checked their references to ensure they are telling the truth.


    So if it seems either to good to be true or to outlandish to be true. Please check snopes and read why they say something is false or true. Yes they do verify somethings and report them as true.

    Snopes has earned a reputation of researching many different topics thoroughly.

    Snopes' reputation is stellar. I consider Snopes along the same lines as an Encyclopedia. I trusted the Encyclopedia from Brittanica because a reputation had been successfully cultivated. Time and time again, the encyclopedia had well researched answers.

    Snopes is in the same vein. Snopes provides plenty of footnotes to verify the research performed. Snopes has been proven to be a stellar resource for finding the "truth" behind many urban legends.

    Nah, Snopes goes a long way to prove/disprove various stuff sent to them.
    I guess it's a good thing, and they rely largely on stuff allready on the net and other info available - I guess it's also doublechecked against encyclopedias and factual evidence.
