    its your line of work.
i had the hardest time sleeping after retirement. im always thinking a flight has to go out.
i work myself to 11pm to force myself to sleep. i do word puzzles or think out the next days plans to put me out.
    and no coffee after 6pm!

I am back to around 3 hours of sleep a night. Took an ambient two nights ago and took up the whole bed. Last night same thing 3 hours of sleep off and on. I am tired now and it is 9.30 AM. Lots to do today and I feel tired.

Sounds like stress to me. Too many things going on which you don't have much control over. When things eventually start to get back on an even keel you'll probably start to feel better.

After supper, I ate an orange that had been around a while. It tasted all right, but it was sort of dry inside. My stomach has felt strange ever since then. But, this too shall pass. [:D]

I don't want to be around when it does.

Just rest David. Waking at 3:00 is far more common for me. Resist the desire to call it a day at 7:30 tonight, and make yourself stay awake until at least 10. Go early and you start a cycle of poor sleep.

I agree with James, it sounds like the problem relates to stress. Unfortunately, only you can identify all of the sources (tough job, etc.) and begin to identify solutions.

I sleep very well since I retired.

Stress and anxiety is nothing to mess with. Had it about 1 year ago. Went to Dr. ( 1st mistake ).
Dr. gave pills.. I took them ( 2nd mistake )
Still couldn't sleep... Went to Dr. Again ( 3rd mistake )
Got new pills.. Worse condition when I took both.
Almost went off deep end. Not good.
    Threw all pills away.
    Feel better.
Moral... Something is causing problem of non sleep. Find out and avoid Dr.

Sound like stress to me as well.

I eat old food out of the fridge all the time. Most times, it doesn't bother me at all. But I was a bachelor until 30.[:D]

You've got a plateful with worrying about Travis, Mark and Dawnie.

Take some advice. Take a couple days and go do something you enjoy that you haven't done in a while, like hunting, fishing or shooting.

Or get a sitter and you and Dawnie take a couple days and go sit by a pool or the beach somewhere and drink fruity drinks with rum and those little umbrellas with nothing else scheduled but maybe a little walk.

It will do wonders for your mental health.

I know that stress and insomnia are not funny ..... but I am absolutely dying of laughter at this thread. Only the internet offers us the opportunity to monitor a person's intestinal distresses in real time.

David I am glad that good things have come to pass for you.

Do they serve oranges at your wife's workplace?

Got an hour of sleep from 10:30-11:30, woke up and did not get back to sleep until 3am.

Alarm clock went off at 3:30 and up I rose ready for work. Work from 4a-4p and I'll go home and crash about 7:30 or 8.

Today is my first day back from a few sets of nights. Body is used to being up all night.

I hope you get to feeling better...might not hurt to go to the doc and get checked out...just in case.

I agree to get checked out by the doc AND to take some time off.

You got a full plate on your hands...need to let some go.

When you need sleep, take the old formula of motion sickness pills. Dramimine I believe. A side effect is feeling sleepy.

My guess is stress. It seems like we all go through things like that when work problems pop up like Dawnie's. You just have to work through them and, eventually, things will get back to normal again.[:)]
