quote:A U.S. Marine stationed in Washington, D.C., died on duty Tuesday from a gunshot wound.

The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene at the Marine Barracks early in the morning. The Corps did not provide the name of the victim, or provide additional information about how he died, since the incident is still being investigated.

The service said there's no threat to residents near the Barracks, which is located in Southeast D.C. and is the Corps' oldest active post.

"The command's priorities are to take care of the Marine's family and friends," said Col. Don Tomich, commanding officer of Marine Barracks. "We want to ensure these personnel are being provided for during this challenging time."

    just got the call;
    friend since high school took his own life today.
    piped the exhaust of the gas generator into the shop, had a few drinks, and went to sleep.
    he had it all, family, money, success.......
    doesn't make any sense.

    Donnie Synder. Passed Friday Night from a long fight with Cancer.

    Now most of you would not know him. But he was the 1st PGR Oregon State Capt. Went on to work in the Nation PGR Group.

    Went on Many PGR Missions with him.

    He was never in the Military but cared deeply for those who did.

    So far there is not an announcement on the PGR site. I only got the News Cause his wife has me on her friends page of Face Book.

    Medics took Emert, a Springfield resident, to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe that Emert suffered from an unspecified medical condition that caused him to lose control of his car. An investigation is continuing.

    He was a good man who always had something nice to say to the troops. Can't call him anything more than an acquaintance but I sure did hate to hear about his passing.[V][V]

    btw, he was killed by a roadside "bomb." I didn't mean it to sound like he just passed away. He was one of the guys that was in my training at Fort Riley. A real nice guy.
