shipping firearm, I'm a non-FFL

Just want to make sure about what I read. I cannot ship a handgun through USPS. Per the UPS website, I (being a non-FFL) cannot use them to ship. "UPS does not allow shipment of firearms FROM an unlicensed person (even to an FFL), unless the stated reason for the firearm shipment is for repair or modifications."
So, I have to use Fed-Ex which would be about $45 for priority overnight which is the only way they will ship it.

    That's correct but it may be cheaper to have your local dealer ship it for you since he can ship through the Post office. If you do ship it yourself, make sure the buyer's FFL will accept a handgun from a non-licensee. Dealers in my area won't.

    UPS accepts packages containing firearms, as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code, for transportation from and between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors, as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code, law enforcement agencies of the United States (or of any department or agency of the United States) and law enforcement agencies of any state or department agency (or political subdivision of any state), and from and between persons not otherwise prohibited from shipping firearms by federal, state or local law and when such shipment complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws applicable to the shipper, recipient and package.

    If some UPS counter hack tells you they don't ship firearms except FFL to FFL, they are lying and don't know their own policies.

    I have certainly used UPS, much as I hate them, to ship handguns, but the price most recently was about the same as Fed-Ex - $44.

    check with your local dealer. It may be cheaper to pay the dealer a $20 or so fee to ship it for you via USPS. Plus I'd much rather give the money to a local dealer than an anti-gun shipping company

    about 18 months ago dhl told me that a firearm could be shipped by a non-licensee as long as the firing pin was not in the weapon and shipped seperate [:0][:0][:0][:0][:0]

    How would they know if the firing pin was removed or not? Just tell them it was removed.

    my dealer charges a $20 transfer fee and it would be $19 for shipping USPS, so looks like $39 is as low as I'm getting.

    Just went through this.

    I sold a pistol to a guy in OH, I'm in NJ.

    His ffl is Gander MT. I talked with them and they said they will only accept a firearm from another ffl.
