Does anyone remember the bank gun deals

I recall - it seems like a lot of years ago - you could buy a CD from one of several banks, and immediately receive from them a new rifle or sidearm as interest paid in advance.

Anyone ever do that or have any memories of these programs ??

    My bank did these "deals". Guns were always priced at full retail.

    Yep, IIRC, most were Weatherby Orion o/us and other Weatherby rifles.

    I remember them from back in the late 1970's when CD were yielding 7%-8% a year. A Western bank offered the Weatherbys, as I recall. In lieu of any interest you received one of several long guns.

    A bank in Boulder used to do that. If you figured out the amount of interest you would get, from the amount they required for deposit, and the length of time required, it would come out a bit behind the cash amount. But it was a good incentive for firearm folk to save money. Don't know of any that still do it.

    Bank Atlantic will give you a $5 duffel-bag, if you open a checking acct.

    Remember it! The banks in Utah were offering Brownings, at least where I lived. Like to see banks do that again.
