Waah! The media keeps pushing the Recession almost as hard as they keep pushing Hillary. Which one do you think will actually happen?
If the expected "crash" happens, it won't be any worse than what happened in '01 when all the overpriced (and under-regulated) dot com stocks blew up.
    I can hardly wait!
A well-placed BUY order can negate all the bad news in less than a week, and that's what I did last time.
So, wallow in depression, recession, or your favorite profession; them stocks is gonna soar!

Thats what happens when banks start lowering the standards for loan eligibility. 90% of those loans probably never should have happened. When people are in trouble 6 months into their loan you know something is wrong.

I would venture a large percentage of those are also "flip" homes. That is the newest get rich quick rage. Unfortunately it's tougher than most people realize, especially in small markets. Iv'e seen about a dozen of these in my small town of 4,500. None have sold well and I don't think any of the investors have made a dime.

Nope it ain't a recession until I start earning double diget interest like I did in the Reagen years. This is just a small "correction."

+1 The way to help these people is to move them back into apartments where they belong.

I deal with several business owners on a daily basis. Everyone is bragging on how good their business is going. From dirt excavators, to machine shops, to people in industrial trade, everyone is covered up with work. Everyones biggest complaint is not being able to find decent help. Seems no one wants to work these days. The only reason the unemployment rate is so high is because lots of people these days are too lazy to work, not because they cant find work.

Depends on the area of the country. Ohio, Michigan, much of the rust belt is hurting... Florida, NY, etc. are doing pretty well.

It is already a recession. The stock market is indicative of NOTHING. If some people can make money, great. The bottom line is that stock value has no relation to the value of the company or its business, and if anyone knew anything about how the stocks would be doing, it would be illegal.

We are going to turn into a country like England, a nation of bankers and holders. We are not the arsenal of democracy any longer...

Here is one definition:A time of less business activity, usually lasting at least three quarters of the year or nine months.

Here is another:A significant decline in activity spread across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. It is visible in industrial production, employment, real income, and wholesale-retail trade.

Exactly the way it is around here. Small buisness (service and retail) owners are working their butts off because they no one wants to work unless it's $25/hr. M-F day work. They'd rather sit on their azz. I work at a large industrial plant that works three shifts, 7 days a week. 20 years ago, people lined up to work there. Now they are begging for workers. It pays $17 avg. with very good benefits but it's shift work and few can pass the drug test. Those that have worked there for a while are racking up the overtime and riding H3's and Lexus's and buying rental property.

    Definition of a recession?

I think it is 2 consecutive quarters with an actual decline in GDP.

Of course, in an election year politician who wish to use negativity use anything they can to claim a recession.

The real definition of recession is: 3 consetive months of negitive growth.

That is the official definition. I do not believe Wikimedia trumps Webster.
