looking for a good spotting scope , without having to go a look long distance into each one , what are some of the best for watching

Ive got a Barska 15-40-50mm, celestron 90 power, and barska 20x80 binoculars. if I'm setting a dialing in a 22 I put a flashlight angled so that the light shines on the back of the target so that I can tell where the hits are. 0 -

Not to mistake, I have been around long enough to know you get what you pay for but also I know you will get what you dont pay for, and that is what I am trying to avoid.
I need one for looking at the targets mosty after sighting in
rifles and for some target shooting, I just didnt seem to figure paying more for a scope to see how I am shooting than for the scope mounted on the rifle.
sounds like a no brainer.

Mine is a Leica Televid APO at $1700, but used only for birding. I also use a nice old ('70's) Bushnell Space Master that I use at the range and for some hunting.
Things have changed a lot in spotting scopes in very recent years. While the top of the line scopes are about the same and the top prices have not gone down, there are a lot more really good mid-range scopes and some very decent budget scopes these days. $300 will buy you a better scope today than you could buy for any price in 1964.
You did not list your budget, but I am guessing below $1000, particularly if it is a hunting scope. Look at Bushnell for economy, but don't over look Burris and leupold, both make decent scopes in their range. Barska is also producing some decent scopes for the price. Nearer the top of the line Kowa is almost as good as Leica, and probably a little tougher. Swarovski is also considered to be at the top in both quality and price, though I personally admit not being as impressed as I think I shoud be for a scope in the $2K range. If I were buying a scope today for the range and some hunting, It would be the Eagle Optics Denali. Lotta scope for the price, which is about $200.

Nor was I with their binocs.[V] I went in with a money is no object attitude for compact binocs. Weeded it down from approx 20 pairs to the Nikon's. They were $200. The most expensive pair I looked through were $800. They weren't much better than the $60 Bushnells. Nikon were the best or I would have bought something else. Was glad to save a bunch of dough.[:D]0 -
Get a Burris Landmark, Rogue uses it for IED and sniper spotting - if that's not good enough reason I don't know what.

for the price,..Meopta is superb and very clear. I looked through one at the 1000yd nationals a few years back and was amazed. I almost went home and sold my Kowa.
swarovski is overpriced IMHO.
