Gun Broker Debate
It is interesting at times to read the debating. And some for a short time are even worth engaging in(though in retrospect not many). But for the most part they are just angry or emotionally charged rants, with very little in the way of exchange of ideas. Debating is of course an art form, and most people aren't very good at it anyways. I'm sure you've all noticed my ineptitude in written discourse. Now I'm as guilty as most, and more so than some when it comes to entering the religious debates.
We were doing pretty good up until a few days ago as far as not arguing about what we have or have not experienced. I move that we all go back to last years trend of not arguing this topic to death. It only tends to bring out the worse in us.
Everyone knows who those of us are that know Christ. So if someone doesn't know Him and is interested in meeting Him, they know who to e mail or call.
So then my suggestion is for both sides to brush the dust from their sandals and walk away from the arguing for the sake of peace. What do ya'll think, worth a try?
*Prayer request posts are of course a different story and should not be messed with.

I thought the discussion forum was for open discussion, open to any and all views, even if they're not popular.

its a pretty sneaky way for smut to get its way without losing alone. see, smut is the problem here on gb. children use the website and are being subjcted to it by perverts and people who think partial nudity is 'OK.'
problem is, it leads to worse desires.
yet, when people discuss OUR LORD, thats right, the LORD that gave us our wonderful country with the intent that we would seek what is right and give liberty and freedoms to its people and be example unto the the rest of the world wht happens when you put GOD FIRST intheir government and way of living, would flurish fromteh gracious GOD that gives all.
funny how smut demands freedom, yet curses GOD the minute they are reminded of RULES and LAW.

whenever someone posts questions about life on gb, im free to express my opinion and i do. yet, its ruled offensive. an opinion mind you that answers the question! granted, they are free to ignore it, but at least the exchange took place. how can GOD offend you? simple, because the minute sin is reminded of a LAW or RULE, they get hissy.
so watch, soon on gb, knowing that the smut crowd is being attacked and has no chance of winning, they will move to snuff out God as they go down. good news. history proves that this was tried over and over everywhere in the world and it doesnt work. God will prevail.
i just hope gb understands that it would be in their best interest to join the right crowd and not give an inch to smut. if it goes national, they will lose this wonderful business that GOD GAVE THEM. its all families would need to hear that their children can go on a gun chat room to see smut. the dem's are watching and will take a stab if given a chance...and i for one dont want to be part of it or associated with it!
remember, the thief comes to steal and destroy. GOD came that you would have life(and business) and have it more abundantly.]

You know what I wish? I wish we would just all agree not to discuss religion on the forums. We have a wide variety of believers in varying degrees, as well as non-believers. I don't think anyone from one group is going to win over anyone from the other, so why can't we just let it go? 0 -

I really don't think it's about winning people over or converting them.
It's more about one person proving he is smarter than the next by espousing beliefs that he holds louder and longer than the other. No one here cares much about what the other is thinking or feeling but that he is a target for his rhetoric.
Religion, guns, rights, it's all the same. All are equally NOT debated.
I reckon you are right though. The best option is to just post safe and non-controversial topics and that way the masses can participate with comfort.
Hope was held, by me, that we were better than that and because of our steadfast defense of our rights in some cases, that we would be tolerant in others.0 -

It may well be that prayer is foolish, an offering to a god who does not exist by weak and superstitious minds. On the other hand, maybe god wanted the car to hit you, and prayer will not help. Probably we will never know for sure, but again, what can it hurt to demonstrate a little solidarity with your cyber brothers and sisters (of whatever or no religion) here on the board?

In God's perfect world we wouldn't have aten from the tree of knowledge and therefor would never have worn clothes or had any guilt for what we did in innocence.
All of the sudden man gets knowledge and what would have been ok prior...is now taboo and thus laws are written to outlaw them.
God's world had no laws except to refrain from knowledge. We broke it.
Thus why man spends 1/3rd of his life troubled with laws created by man...and that book that man created that fueled the need for more laws.0 -

A good and intelligent post above. If I was more sensible I would follow that advice. But I cannot remain silent when I see otherwise intelligent people going around laughing, dancing and singing the praises of the invisible man who has a long beard, wears a bathrobe and lives in the sky. And when they tell me they "talk" to that man and they are going to "pray" to him in the hopes he will reverse the course of events, events he already knows about and apparently has approved, then I have no choice but to speak out.
If this was a religious forum I would just stay away and not bother the religious people on it. But the religious people here insist on posting topics that catch my attention even though I have not come here for religion. If someone were to criticize me for posting what I think and feel about relligion, that same reason for criticizing me could be turned on the relligious posters. And give me credit. I know this is a "general forum" and I would not think of asking the religious posters to post only things I approve of. Just as I would not expect them to tell me what to post/not post on a "general discussion" forum.0 -

I don't believe in the Easter Bunny, but I don't spend all my free time searching the web for true bunny believers to argue with either.
Atheists waste a lot of time that way. However, the Christian is required to be a witness, so put me down as a blood-washed, born again follower of Christ. I'm not perfect by a long shot, but I'm forgiven and that makes the difference. You should be able to see
a difference in the way a Christian lives his life, but remember there are many wolves in sheep's clothing.0 -
