The doc put me on Darvocet

The doc put me on Darvocet for the rib pain. Have to take it with food or it makes me sick, and seems like all I do is sleep. Oh well, better than hurting all of the time![;)]

    Darvocet/Darvon was one of favorites back in bad old days.

    Ive always found darvocet to be too weak. As well as vicodin, the only things that ever made me feel no pain was percocet. And only the 10s.

    at least you can sleep now, good luck with it, i hope you recover ok...i`ve never heard of any of those medicines...they are probarly called something else here...i know what you call demorol we call pethidine but thats about the only one i know.

    You got me inspired, heffley.
    I got out a bottle of Darvocet that I have had since July. Am trying one pill with 3 gin and tonics. Probably will knock out the pain emanating from my knee.

    ps If you are unhappy with the Darvocet tell the doc they don't work for you, and you want Vicodin. I liked Vicodin better.

    gave me lortab & oxycodone after reattaching all the right shoulder tendons...don't like them so just took pain till it got better

    Last time I was badly hurt I found the best thing was to skip the meds,
    and stick with whiskey, straight.

    If Darvocert doesn't help enough with the pain, demand something stronger. For some reason, over the decades, the medical community has determined that no patient should be given quite enough medicine to actually stop all the pain. They usually just want to take the edge off and figure that should be enough to satisfy the patient.

    A few years ago, my elderly mother was just out of surgery in the hospital for gall bladder removal. She told me she was in pain on a scale of 1-10 at a 10. I immeditely went to the nurses station (no MD nearby) and stated that "somewhere in this hospital, on a shelf, is a pain medication that will make my mother's pain go away. I either want her to have that medication quickly or I want to know why she has to remain in pain."

    She got the effective pain medication quickly.

    Don't be afraid to cut them in half, if the pain is still there ask the doc for either loritab or vicoden.

    Are they still prescribing Demerol? I had a motorcycle accident back in 1966 and had a badly broken leg. Leg in a cast from toe to hip for six months. When I tried to sleep at night, my leg (tired of not being able to move) would twitch and cause as much pain as when I orginally broke my leg (bone still not healed yet). That pain caused me to wake up screaming like a woman giving birth. Dr. back then was generous with pain meds and prescribed a big bottle of Demerol. That did the trick. No more pain. A nice cup of hot tea, cigarette and Demerol first thing in the morning and I was flying high.

    I'm gonna have to have a hemorrid operation soon and I am gonna insist that I be given some really, REALLY, effective pain medication. I do not want to be screaming like a woman given birth again just to take a dump after the operation.
