So my chief asked...

I flew on Friday with my Division Chief, and we got to talking politics. Somehow we end up on the Second Amendment and he starts in on the militia thing. So I start explaning about the Bill of Rights and how that they are all personal rights, not rights given by the government. Too make a long story short, at the end of the mission he was asking me what the requirements are for a carry permit and what would be a good carry gun for a novice. What a great day.

Chalk another one up on our side.[8D]

    Just goes--once again--to show that you get a lot farther with a bit of sugar. I bump into people all the time that start off with the "Guns are the reason our country is in such bad shape and. . ." routine. When I tell them they're idiots, oddly enough they don't change their opinion. When I ask guiding questions and listen to what they say, it's amazing how they'll start thinking about things. I'm not talking 100% conversion, but if you can get somebody from the above to "You know, I guess gun control really isn't that effective in stopping crime," it's a lot easier to get them to really start reconsidering things.

    i always "preach" the good word to people who dont understand that gun control = more crime...sometimes i even get a victory!..the thing that annoys me is when i hear someone who already owns guns soying that our gun laws are good...my trigger finger itches real bad then...some people are stupid!..reading your story has given me hope again though..
