A New Controlled Substance ?
..I was at the pharmacy, picking up some first aid supplies. Went to grab a couple bottles of saline solution for wound washing...it's not there, so I ask the pharmacist about it and she asks if I have a prescription. Huh? You're kidding, right? Nope. It's on the shelf behind her along with the Demerol and Oxycontin.
..Oh no, what'll I do? Go home, boil distilled water, add kosher salt, bottle while hot. Am I running an illegal drug lab? After all, I did manufacture that awful controlled substance....salt water.

tomh...Not sure how strong that is, but normal saline is simply sterile water with 0.9% sodium chloride.
..And yet, there on the shelf is potassium nitrate, sulfer, charcoal and glycerine. Let's see...Autozone sells sulfuric acid and you can get nitric acid at the hobby shop, but they won't sell me salt water. Makes a bunch of sense, no?0 -

Once we have universal health care there will be no need for any over the counter drugs or first aid supplies.
If you have a headache or cut your finger you just fill out a form and in a short 6-8 weeks you get to see a government official that will start the process to get you a appointment to appear before a committee to vote on your need for medical attention.0 -

Set a bottled water, and a container of salt, on the pharmacist counter. Then ask if it is illegal to mix the two.
