Big 0 Tires $500 gas rebate worth the effort?
Is anyone doing this and if so, is it worth the effort?
$25 per month in "free" gas if you follow their instructions carefully.
It doesn't sound too complicated but there must be some catch as the tires cost less than that.

Well gosh, haven't you figured out yet you are going to pay for it in the cost of tires? Ain't no free lunch, and that is too big a promo for a set of 4 unless they are really spendy. 0 -

Set of 4 tires is about $325. The "free" gas program is for $25 per month for 20 months.
It's a pretty simple question: Is anybody participating in this and if so, do they think it's worth the effort?0 -

325.00 + tax. mounting/balance?..valve stems?..its about a 35.000 mile tire Henry,..3.00$ a gallon for gas..what size are you buying?..any other rules or qualifications?..free gas is free gas, 81.25+ a tire..sounds to high to me for big o brand..but don't know what size your getting..whats the treadwear rating?..ie 340,440..etc..got a link or is it local?..Loko0 -

This might be a new program.
Huge sign at the store says if you buy a set of Big O tires you can get $500 in gas; but it clearly states (in much smaller print) if you follow the instructions.
I can get the cheapest tires for <$200 but the same size Big O tires are $325.0 -
Buy the $200.00 tires, and put the other $125.00 in the bank.
Big O always has some kinda funny deal going on..0 -
Here's what it looks like the rules are.
1) Buy the 4 tires at Big O Tires (over 500 locations) using the coupon
2) They will give you a participation form to fill out & send in. At that time, you will need to designate which gas station chain you will be using for the program. (from a list of about 50 major ones that are participating)
3) Whenever you get $100 or more worth of gas receipts, you mail them in, and they send you a gas gift/debit card worth $25. (so, you will have to buy $2,000 of gas to be able to obtain the $500 worth free)
So, there is a bit of work involved to get the $500 in free gas, it isn't just handed to you on a single gift card. You'd have to send in the receipts 20 times in order to get $500 in free gas. Evidently they feel that if you buy your gas at the same chain often enough to buy 20 times $100 in gasoline, (what is that, about 60 fill-ups?) they have your business for life. That's debatable, but if they want to give away $500 in free gas to test the point, more power to them.
On the plus side, 1/4 of the required $100 in gas purchases can be done with the gas debit card they send you, which means you can do it faster that way, and with less of your own money.
This seems like it would be a great deal for you if:
A) You need new tires anyway You commute a lot, and go through a lot of gas
C) You are one of the folks who actually follows through
and mails in receipts for rebates and such0
