Why dont people accelerate at a green light?(we sometimes get five cars through a light that should have gotten 10), why do people pull out in front of you only to put on the blinker (maybe) and turn 100 feet in front of you. Why do people drive 55 in the left lane? Are they hired as blockers by the state troopers?
Why do people always avoid the line knowing they can get in down the road when they clearly know the line is for the turn they need?

Saw some numnut today at the local theater. Sped through the parking lot, ignored the stop sign and raced to the parking spot right next to the handicapped and the door. Almost hit my friend.
I watched him park his Yukon and come walking in then told him "Nice job blowing the stop sign." Bow did that ever set him off, calling me all sorts of names. I was waiting for him to do something, but I guess the long line of people behind me gave him second thoughts.0 -

Your original post indicated you were on a road with two lanes in your direction that had the right lane closed, merging into the left lane. You were trying to make it one lane 3/4 of mile before it had to be.
Being childish with semantics can be funny, in the right circumstances.
It's not "...ehh.. DENSE.." to point out the basic fundamantals just because some people don't apply them. To say it is represents the same mindset that socialists use to try and take guns out of civilian hands: Don't tell them that adhering to the basic rules of gunhandling would prevent accidents, since, obviously, gun accidents do occur, hence the rules don't work.
Merges should work just fine; all it takes is a few rude, selfish and inconsiderate people who think the rules (of the road, courtesy and physics) don't apply to them to muck it up for everybody.
When you get onto the freeway from an on-ramp, is there an opening or does somebody try to ram you off the road because they don't want you to get ahead of them? It's the exact same merge, two lanes going into one. Some people go over the gore point as soon as they can and dive into traffic far earlier than where the ramp merges. Is that what you do, and curse those who drive on the ramp, or vice versa?
Neither my expertise - and unless you handle three times the traffic collisions that an average CHP officer handles you can knock the quotation marks off - nor I stated that the signs in your case said anything. To say otherwise would be rather ...ehh... DENSE.0 -
I do the same thing Highball. Screw those jerks trying to "get ahead". I notice these are usually some high dollar looking business man in their BMW's or other luxury car. They give me the finger I give it right back. Don't like it jackass? GET IN LINE! Hell, we learned the concept of that in kindergarden. 0 -
Sorry to give you heartburn, Orange...but you seem to have lost the argument.
According to some posters, it is against the law to drive down to the end and try to force your way into traffic.
Now..while I despise endless laws...this one looks like common sense to me.
Don't attempt to do it with me...for from this day forward, I will block you..unless and until there is an officer standing there telling me to allow you in.
I always wondered about the mentality of those special persons speeding by a sign stating "Merge left, ect"..doing nothing until the road is totally blocked.
Now..I am going to reveal a little history. I was hit in the rear in JUST SUCH a situation...almost. The signs were out..perfectly clear day. I moved to the left, slowed down to 30..there were workers on the right lane, replacing guardrails.
I glanced in my rearview mirror and saw a vehicle dart out of the right lane//nearly turning over. He straightened out and bore down on me at a tremendous rate of speed.
I tromped the Bonnevilles accelerator..the last time I saw the spedometer I was running 60 miles an hour. The wreck destroyed the front of his car, and bent the rear of my car up about 6 inches.

If by losing the argument you mean being in the minority on this particular thread at this particular time, I spoze you're correct about that. That doesn't make you right. And there's no rule where I operate that requires drivers to cause a back-up as soon as possible.

Whatever...trying to dig thru your question, I will admit freely that when running a ramp, if traffic appears to make it difficult to blend smoothly at the end of the ramp and I can get onto the highway without
causing problems for other drivers...you bet I will do so.
I expect you are attempting to accuse me of jumping a lane and blocking a car ahead of me following the ramp.

Yeppers...I sure do like decent citizens owning and carrying guns...so they can protect themselves from the arrogant slobs that believe they have the right to run by cars..then inject themselves 3/4 of a mile ahead..slowing traffic to a standstill as they force thenselves in front of meek people.0 -
No one wants to wait their turn and stand in line. The difference is, if they were trying to cut in line at the movie theater where they didn't have the protection of their car around them, they wouldn't. As long as they have that protection, they don't mind being jerks and apearing brave. If you had stopped the truck and crawled out, he would have nailed the gas and run off, just like the little girl he was.[:D] 0 -

Bout a year ago, I pulled up to a 4-way stop..stopped...and watched a big 'ol dump truck rolling to a stop to my right.
Seemed he was going to stop...so I put 'er in gear and started thru the intersection. Dump truck DIDN'T stop...just accelerated into my path.
Slammed on the brakes...and watched in amazement as the driver shut the truck down in the middle of the intersection and BAILED OUT !!!
Screaming and waving his arms, he came running over to my truck...[:0]
I opened my door and started to get out...and the guy stopped...looked COMPLETELY dumbfounded..such a look !! Almost like he had been transported to another world...and turned and ran for his truck. Incidence OVER.....
Now...Danny as you know, I am just a little feller...so to this day I have no idea what went through his head...but I laugh every time I think about it..just as I am doing now.
I have seen much the same look on a coyotes face, coming in to a call.when finally they see you...and realize they have been HAD...[:D][:D]0 -

Had a simular thing happen with two black teenagers. They tried to cut me off by failing to yield on an exit ramp. Then, they pulled up beside me yelling for me to pull over. When I did and got out, they changed their mind and headed of at full acceleration. What a brave bunch of "boys".0
