    I just took a look over on the auction side at original magazines for a 1903 Colt auto in 32 ACP and the prices are outrageous! $100-$250 for blued magazines. Mine is nickel, I'd hate to see what it would go for!

    Got my first copy of GB magazine today. It really looks good. It has a way to go but it was good and very high quality. kudos to the GB staff and the bean counters who made it happen.....Looks good....and Thanks

    just checked electronic grain trades tonight....knew they was going to expand the limits from .30 to .40 cents but they must have went more than that nearby months of MGE and KCBT wheat are up .60 cents ....man o man a person would have to have really deep pockets now being on the wrong side of a trade now.

    Well I don't know how it's up there around you doc, but down here, the farmers are pushing down trees and pulling out fences to get more corn in. Never seen anything like it. Even the grassways are gone!

    colonel plink,spring wheat cash is 16.25-16.30 a bushel
    Guns n paints....grass is going to disappear her fast...unless its 90% granite and that might not stop it......i am going break a 1/4 of pasture soon as frost is out.

    I've been watching this, I work for Wheat Montana. We have had "orders" for millions of pounds, and tons. We dont have it, seems nobody does. A world shortage, due largely to drought, and many locked in to corn contracts. Our "advisors" think next year will be the same, not near enough wheat in the world, Montana may have the only "surplus" available.
    Montana does grow some durham wheat, a lot of it used locally for pasta. Italy says they have enough durham to last a couple more months, then they will have to stop producing pasta. Does that mean Italy will have to learn different eating habits?

    raingauge, i sold all my wheat little over six dollars never ever dreamed it would get this high.....getting to be close to 250,000.000 mistake for me[:(]

    I think the government has been.....erhmmmm not telling the truth on wheat stocks in reserve for quite some time.


    I am going to a farm sale in the morning to try and score on a 35ft chiesel....for breaking sod


    another thing is going to really make it interesting is now we have all crops trying to buy acres from another.....this is going to get real wild

    I believe you're right, cowdoc, it just might get a little western. It doesn't seem to matter which wheat, either, there just isn't any.
    a lot of it sold here for 5.15, everyone thought they were doing great. I think you're right, they failed to tell us a few things, but you know how Uncle Sam is .....

    So do I!! i sold some new crop wheat way soon....if i don't raise it the price difference to buy out contract....would be a pretty large chunk of money.....i dout like hell i could get them to roll the contract fwd...i am still safe i hope i can grow the amout i need to fill contract even on very dry year.

    rain gauge people...ie us farmers are even starting to wonder about how to keep people from stealing grain out of bins....guess it happened in the early 70's.....guys would find bin cut open with torch and truck tracks leaving the grain bin

    cowdoc: wheat here on Fri. went up a dollar. .30 cash and .70 basis. Our local cash price at the close Fri. was 17.30. Most of the locals contracted for fall delivery at 8.00 to 10.00. Right now contracts for fall delivery are 12.77. Big problem is most fellas were betting the farm on corn and soybeans. Where I farm here, corn is not viable on average, maybe get 2 or 3 crops out of 10 years. But farming for the insurance makes it profitable. Soybeans, well, that is about the same.

    Everybody claims to remember the early to mid 70's when wheat went to 6.00 and everybody was expanding faster then the universe in the Big Bang Theory. 1980's rolled around and 80% of the farmers here were rolled up like a rug. I don't wish to see that happen again, but it will if there isn't some tempering to spending and expansion.

    they are selling new iron here like no more will ever be built again....when this deal breaks......it's going to be ugly.....I am staying out of that deal I when i buy equipment it is used and paint is not all shinny .... so hopefully i will be still standing when the dust settles and then expand.....land prices here are so high that you would be lucky to be able to make interest payment let alone any principal payment.

    priced wheat top dress fertilizer last week at 60cts a unit of N...wonder about this weeks price....two years ago was 18cts unit of N...so don't think these high price will necessarily be a giant profit deal...come spring of N price at 70cts a unit on a basic 220#/acre means that alone will be $154 plus P & K costs....some multi-stack seed corn varieties are over $200 a bag which plants about 2.6 acres at 30k seed count...grain theft is already starting around here....i have removed batteries & fuel from irrigation units for wintertime for 10 years now...every little town in this county has had several business broke into this winter..if you have an old center pivot set in corner the span cable will disappear within a week....fishing sound like more fun

    Farmers will yet again doom themselves by planting all one crop accross the board. Saw the same thing in the late nineties corn was up aroun 5 bucks everyone switched and sunk the markets. However now ethonal is a big draw.

    you are correct on input prices.....I did do one smart thing and locked all my urea late last fall for 405.00 a ton 44 cents a unit of N
    still waiting to buy Diesel fuel....doesn't act like it is going to any cheaper......2.79 for num 2 ag is the best price i have been quoted....got it last year for 2.05/gal

    Maybe the farmers who are planting corn in every nook and corner should read why the dust bowl happened.It happened for the same reason.GREED.
    The farmers plowed under all the natural grasses in Oklahoma, Kansas and the panhandle of Texas to grow wheat on. Wheat was King then and farmers were getting rich for the times.
    Cant just farm it all and not have to pay later.

    What happens when we get dependent on ethenol and we have a couple of dry years?
    If I am not mistaken it takes alot of water to grow corn.
    Sounds like from the news we are not far from a water shortage.We have been in a drought for a couple of years here in the SE.
    But then good ole America does not think about such thingS until they happen then it is too late.
    I am not sure that ethenol is the answer.I think its just a quick fix too shut us up,and fool ourselves into a false sense of security.
    I am not a doom and gloom person, but damn people why do we have to be in a crisis before we act on it.
    Same reason since 911 we have to check grandmas shoes before she can get on an airplane,but Perdo can come into our country illegally and we pay him and his family benefits,and then cant ask if his is legal.That would be infringing on his rights.
    OK that enough. I have pissed my ownself off.

    dust bowl ain't gonna happen again i am sure....not with notill
    pic below is me planting winter wheat back into spring wheat stubble...thats why we have went from 30-40bu/ac to 60-80bu/acre wheat up here where i am at. wheat got highpriced because for years they stole it from us so we switched to different crops to make money now we are sitting very very short on wheat supply....that and due to severe drought in much of the wheat states for many years....supply/demand i guess[;)]

    cowdoc: I should have mentioned, the prices I was quoting were for Hard Red Spring Wheat and you were talking Winter Wheat. I always forget that because we are not winter wheat country here. Tends to freeze out too often. A few farmers put it in, but only what they figure they can afford to lose.

    swearengine...the prices i quoted was spring wheat.....we grow both here..get another 50 or so miles south of me they dont grow much spring wheat
