Kimber experience?

I've owned 1911 types, but I'm trying to help a friend who owns a Kimber and have little hands on experience with them.

What are the differences, other than the takedown of the recoil spring and spring guide that I see people wrestling with?

Would a detailed manual for Colts suffice or does it need to be Kimber specific before tackling a complete teardown?

  same except for the schwartz safety on the series 2, i'll look for a blue print
