My son who hates me . . .
Josh came by today and he and I loaded up some pistols (still trying to figure out which one to give away) in the saddle bags and rode over to Quail Creek to shoot them. We did a little pistol trading while we were there, and I swapped him a Beretta .380 for a .357 Snubby.
Rode back through Decatur and Denton and stopped up by the college to eat. I laughed watching him break his neck eyeballing all of the college girls out on a pretty day, and filled our bellies with mexican food.
Was a little cold when we started, but it warmed up nicely. Did 120 miles and had some good laughs and some good times. He got a ticket for an expired inspection sticker (we were actually stopped because he failed to come to a complete stop before turning right on a redlight), but the cop told him if he got it inspected within 10 days the judge always dismissed them, so when we got back to my house, he visited with his mom and then left to go get an inspection.
Had a real good time with someone who hates my guts![:D]

Havent you learned that kids who hate the parents guts are the ones who want to spend the time with the parent, listen (for the most part) to the parent, is not ashamed to be seen with the parent and would do anything even kill for that parent that they hate....

Sandy says he's 34 going on 16.... Maybe she's right.
He knows I love him, and he knows I'll forgive him anything except hurting his mom. Sometimes he takes advantage of it, but we sure have some good times together. Today was exceptional.
He told Sandy after he got mad at me and said he wouldn't come back until I died, he had dreams two nights in a row that I did die. Told her both times he woke up in sweats. He told me today that he didn't know why he said it, and agaong, he was sorry he did.
I told him not to worry about it, I have believed anything he's said since he was 13. At first he just looked at me, then I smiled. He cracked up and told me it's hard being my son.
Oh well, it's hard being my wife too. Just ask Sandy![}:)]0 -

He said those exact words, and out of the mouth of a 34 year old man, and it wasn't the first time. If he didn't mean them, he shouldn't have said them.

THere are time when, as parents, we hate our kids too....Now before anyone busts my chops, listen me out...
We may say we hate our kids at the time, BUT in reality, we are hating what they are doing or acting...Do you not think its the same for kids?...they will say they hate us, and at the time it is said, its usually in the heat of an arguement when we, as parents are lowering the boom on our kids, so no they dont really hate us, they are hating what we are doing to them... Of course there are exceptions but it doesnt apply here...0 -

I can say with all honesty that I have never felt anything remotely close to hate for my children or foster children. The word "hate" has never crossed my lips to them. That being said, I knew when he said it that he didn't "hate" me, just the stand I was taking with him. Still, he has a history of saying many words he didn't mean to many people. I have wrked with him on this for years, because I too let my anger get the best of me at times, and he comes by this through my bad genes. The only way to change it is to confront yourself, and I'm forcing him to do that.
I love him, he loves me, and his mother loves both of us. He just has to grow up in two or three areas, and I'm pushing him. Sometimes when you boil a pot, it boild over.[;)]0 -
Hef don't feel bad. Your in good company. My son(15)hates me too, so he says. But has the time of his life and can't wait to do the things I do with him. Camping,arcade,bowling,go cart racing,gun/trap range,archery,vacations to NY,Fla,Indy 500,out for pizza ect.
I think it's(for his age)just a saying to fit in with the peer pressure in school. Plus he dislikes the fact that I want a certain amount of responsibility from him.
I think the hardest part for him is to remember not to show that he really loves me. [:D]

Everything you said, and everything I said can be said bout kids and parents....
There were a couple of times I hate what my daughter was doing and I said so...Once I even said I hated her...the look on her face said it all and that sentence ended all arguements, all bad behavior as well...She couldnt take it if her mom hated "her", when in reality I hated what she was doing, and she knew it too....We all let our anger get the better of us, kids and parents are no different there, neither are spouses...MOst of us realize that sometimes words that are said are not meant....
By the way Danny, just for the record...According to all the major studies done, if at any one time, you dont hate what your child is doing or saying, you are not considered normal...*LOL0 -

He hasn't returned my digital camera since he and Sandy took it to New York. He has had the pictures that are on the memory card developed yet. He'll get around to it when I tell him I have to have it back, but that won't be until Easter.0 -
