Is their a real "DO NOT CALL" list?

    yes and it's not that good but better than nothing I think just put Do Not Call list in your browser and it should come up

    just remember some calls are still allowed through, not many but some. where i used to get 20 calls a month, i'm lucky if if i get 1 call a month now

    I still get about one call per week, always a computer, never gives a name and the return number is blocked. Kinda makes me wish I had been home to get the name/number to file a complaint. Some of these companies get serious fines.

    Now I want a national "politicians do not call number."

    Every call goes to my recorder, and is screened.

    There is a little tone that you can put on your answer machine. This tone is three different notes, lasts about 3 seconds. You have heard it at some time or another, when you called a number that was no longer in service.
    I have this tone on my answer machine, it is the first thing that you hear when my machine cranks up. Humans ignore this tone, don't know what it is. But it tells the computer that your phone is out of service, and that computer will not call your number again.

    You can get this tone from this link, it is a WAV file, whatever that is.

    Also you can buy a Telezapper. You run your phone line through it, does the same thing as the tone referenced above. The advantage of the Telezapper is it goes off every time you answer the phone. If you put that tone onto your answer machine, it only works when your answer machine picks up.

    I used to be plagued by telemarketers, they drove me nuts. I got hold of the tone and put it on my answer machine. I let my machine answer all calls for about a month and it was amazing how the telemarketers just dried up. It was fun.
    Then the do-not-call list came out and I registered for it, and that pretty much wiped out the telemarketers. I still have that tone on my answer machine though, just in case.

    when you have a 911 call address listing or a voter address listing at your county courthouse make sure you check the NO box for public access to that number...also can NO at the treasurers office on tax roll or vehicle tag lists.....really helps & gets you off of election phone hustles
