SaxonPig of Arabia

This photo was taken 24 years ago. Some friends and I were having a Middle Eastern weekend. I am the man on the right. Gee, not a gray hair in sight.

The other guy is my friend John. His wife, Rhonda, is seated to my immediate left. On the viewer's far right is Chris, who went on to earn a Ph.D. in microbiology and now teaches and does research at one of the CA state universities.

On our far left is Neva, who got two masters degrees so she could be a stay at home mom. Go figure.

In white is the girl (she's 17 in this picture) who would eventually become Mrs. SaxonPig. She got her Ph.D. in 2000 and will graduate from law school on March 17. At this point we were just friends. The six of us hung out with each other for a few years before drifting apart to live our lives. This is the only photo with all of us together. I found it in a drawer this morning.

Those were the days.

    You were a pretty good size boy in that picture. How did you loose the weight?

    Um... what weight loss? This is me today:

    I actually weigh about the same as I did back then but now I have more fat and less muscle.

    I did note that you are sitting on the dais and most everyone is "at your feet" shall we say. So who was the more intelligent one then? Possibly as it should be. (I talk big at work = no wife)

    They took 30% of my stomach out in the last surgery, and I've gained 16 more pounds. Go figure![V]

    I've still got a lot of muscle, it's just "table" muscle![}:)]

    Do they make overloads for my Goldwing?[:D]

    Please note that I am not touching the pipe. I am holding a whip.

    My wife's grandmother left her a hookah when she died. It was her granddad's and is like 100 years old. It's openly displayed in the living room and even though as far as I know only tobacco was ever used in it, I wonder if in some states it would be considered "drug paraphernalia?"

    No, not really.

    Got my W2 this week. I like to fool myself and think that what I do matters a little, has some importance to society. Then I see my W2 and I realize, no... what I do isn't valued at all.
