what cal's are close to the 22-250

i bought a gun on gunbroker. the guy told me he figured it was a 22-250 but wasnt shure. no markings on barrle. but said barrel was 22 cal. not it will amost feed a 22-250 round in but wont quit. bolt wont go far enough to close. i have a appointment at gandermontain in fargo to have a gunsmith look at it to find out what caliber it is. its a custom made from a mauser action. just though someone of here would have a clue as to what it is. still going to have it check out though.

    Could be a lot of things. Cast the chamber.

    Could be any number of calibers..or just something that some unknown ground out and chambered.
    The proper method to determine the chamber is with the low temperature alloy Brownell's sells.

    The barrel is plugged just forward of the chamber.

    One melts the Cerrosafe in a clean ladle (150-190 degrees) and pours it in the chamber. Heating the chamber a bit ensures a wrinkle free cast.

    Upon cooling, the stuff shrinks slightly, allowing the cast to drop out of the chamber.

    Measuring various points of the cast soon tells the story about caliber.
