Help With Anti-2nd Amendment Termites
Over the past year or two, I have noticed a strategic and deceptive trend among anti-2nd Amendment prohibitionists. I have noticed, along with several other people I have spoken with, the appearance of letters in various gun magazines by writers purporting to be pro-2nd Amendment as well as gun owners themselves. And then, after they establish their "gun-owner's credentials," they follow with a "but."
For example, they will say they support the right to keep and bear and arms but contend the 2nd Amendment applies only to the ability of States to maintain a militia (which is of course, wrong), they don't believe people really need semi-automatic rifles especially AK-47s (but they use the prohibitionist's term "assault weapons"), and or they support registration and stricter controls over state mandated and regulated training and licensing simply to own handguns.
I am in the process of conducting research for a planned monograph on anti-2nd Amendment gun prohibitionists and their organizations. As part of that research, I collect and read the propaganda of these organizations. The fact that these alleged pro-2nd Amendment folks use the talking points and propaganda of anti-gun/anti-2nd Amendment organizations is hard to miss and also illustrative of what is really going on. I believe these are simply "plants" who seek to disrupt the unity of, create doubt about the right to keep and bear arms, or commitment of those in the self defense and 2nd Amendment communities. In other words, they are termites. It reminds me of the tactics of the Moscow controlled Communist Party USA from 1919 through the 50s to insert "plants" into various organizations for the same purpose. If anyone else comes across letters to gun/hunting magazines that are suspect, I would appreciate it if you could attach them and email them to me. I will be expanding my monograph to cover them as well.

Laura Ingraham refers to these types of people as But-Monkeys and features them daily on her radio show.
She has a But-Monkey of the Day.0 -
You can start your research RIGHT HERE on this forum.
You will find MANY gun owners that support gun control. The biggest problem you have is getting them to admit it.
I have not treated them 'nicely', over the years...
These people are the folks that put into office anti-gunners...because gun control just isn't high on their list of priorities.0 -
Well said, i'll keep my ears peeled.

But-monkeys!
That is a good one, funny.0 -
Spanielsells: Thanks, does she imply that they are not the "real deal" but pretending to be something else? Again, thanks for sending me in her direction. 0 -
For Highball: You know, I'm afraid you are correct. I have read some posts recently that made me wonder if the poster was legit or not. The problem is, sometimes I have time to be on this forum and then I get busy and can't visit for a while and wasn't sure if I was reading into what someone wrote or were they a prime example. I will take your advice and I appreciate it. 0 -
I think there are such "termites" widely spread, even here on GB.com. With the honest and real and constant threat to our gun rights, I am appalled when I read a posting, supposely by gun owners here on GB.com, that basically tries to give a tranquilzier to those of us who try to sound the alarm about the threat to our gun rights.
These "termites" ridicule the ideas expressed about the constant threat to our gun rights and try to convince us that our rights are guarenteed and there is no way and nobody can EVER do anything to take away our guns.
I also am suspicous of those here who severly criticize various pro-gun rights organizations that are fighting for our rights. It is OK if those criitics have a sincere lack of support for a particular organization, but constantly publishing propaganda against that organization, without suggesting and urging an alternative is to me nothing more than the enemy just trying to talk us into giving up the fight.
And I might add, if such stealth propaganda is going on, it is very clever, effective and an excellent way for the anti-gun side to conduct their anti-gun crusade. I wish there was a comporable way for us pro-gunners to do the same to the anti-gun side, but I don't know what it would be.0 -
Well there is only one thing that will help against those little critters...
Forget the NRA and Goa. Get off your ass like GRD did (and a few others) and put Guns and the 2nd into the hands and minds of our youth... and send your entire life trying to get a couple of anti-gunners out on the range and having fun. That is the only bug juice that will really work...0 -
NotPars;
May I suggest a simple test, to separate the anti-gunners from those who support gun control ?
Ask the very simple question;
Do you support ANY Federal Control of Firearms ?
Read very carefully the Second Amendment..and you will find only the binding down of the federal government in gun laws...DISALLOWING them the power to pass gun laws.
Now...balance carefully those attempting to cast doubt on REAL Second Amendment supporters against that document.
Do your own research into those 'pro-gun' organizations that APPEAR to be working against gun control...yet seem to buy off on whatever new gun law comes down the pike.0 -

Highball, you always reach for perfection or you reject what is offered to you. Say that a bunch of us GB.er's were sitting around and one of our buddies ran up and said "come quick, I need help. A gang is beating up my kid." Then, as MOST of us would jump up and follow our friend with the intention of helping, ALMOST ALL OF US would have a slightly different idea of what we planned to do to help, and also we all would have just a slightly different level of committment and determination, etc.
That is how the world works. In a marriage, the love and devotation on one spouse is usually not the same level as the other. Employees in a company, while they all come to work and may do a good job, have different levels of committment to the employer. And on and on and on.
So it is with pro-gun people and the organizations they belong to. Yet, if you don't see what you consider to be "perfection" you demonize such people and organizations. You, I and every progun person here does not have an excess of friends and supporters in regards to our gun rights. If you have any sense you will find some way to work the best you can, towards your goals the best you can and work with the friends and supporters you still have left the best you can.
If you continue to insist on perfection I would like to point out that you are far from perfect so you should start by rejecting yourself if you are going to be so demanding.
JMHO (for your own good)0 -
Perfect ? Only been one on earth.
Now..reaching for second place...or third..still leaves you a loser.
I intend hammering on the 'perfection' angle forever...if 'No Federal Gun Laws' is considered perfection.
The is no place given in the Constitution for them...and damned good reasons to work for their removal.
Join me. In doing do, you join a select group of men. The Founders.
Do you enjoy the company of bush/Kennedy/Shumer/ ? I don't.
We are few in numbers...those of us advocating a return to the Republic and sanity...but I like to think that we are as legions in spirit.0 -
TR,
The REASON we demand perfection, is because those were the RULES in the second amendment. Where congress was BANNED from passing law, they were banned. No one has made an amendment changing that fact. Just because they do things now, doesn't mean they are RIGHT or CORRECT. We only demand they follow the law that they SWORE to uphold.0 -
Here is a one-liner for you that sums it up for me.
The rabid, blind, pursuit of "perfection" crowds out the chance of achieving excellence.0 -

It may sum things up for you Fox, but we DID have that perfection that we speak of. That was until the slimeballs decided we "peons" are too dumb to think for ourselves. The facts remain that because we "comprimised" we now have restriction on our RIGHTS. Restrictions that never existed before. Restrictions that will know no limits. We lost what we had because we gave away ground (or our rights). Should we continue to let our rights be eroded, or should we DEMAND what is rightfully OURS? See, I belive when it comes to this matter you either don't totally comprehend what your rights are, or you don't WANT what is yours.
I too am reminded of a one liner:
"No country has EVER voted itself OUT of tyranny in recorded history."
I like mine better. Our time is about up, we have precious few moments left to make a difference. Continueing with the staus quo will not change the direction of things.0 -
I would like to ask every CongressPerson or Legislator to show me where a law against it(anything) has ever prevented that thing from happening. Doesn't every one elected to the US Congress swear to Preserve Protect and Defend the Constitution?? I think the Second Amendment is in there somewhere!!! 0 -
i agree with the "no compromise, no interpretation" facet of the 2nd amendment debate. it states it very clearly to me. NO LAW means just that NO LAW... it is the end all, be all statement. the fact that any law exists to the contrary mystfies me. but really look at those laws that have been passed... the dc ban didn't totaly outright ban guns, it said you can't have it in working order. you could still have it, but it has to be in pieces...to others aren't completely aimed at the actual gun either but aspects of them. no hi cap mags, no full auto version, no laser aiming system, no this, no that...the next ban isn't on the gun as well, it's after the types of ammo...these things are not part of the 2nd. we can own the gun, but we may have to apply for the privlege of purchasing the ammo, like the privelege of the drivers license. ammo is not protected by the Constitution...just the firearm.
i agree with the fight to purify these laws and uphold the 2nd. but do ask you all one thing. i see you battling to preserve the 2nd, some may even do so with their dying breath, but i don't really see any being as vocal and supportive about the rest of the Constitution...why? if you're gonna fight, fight for the whole damn thing and not just the piece that suits you.0 -

There was "gun control" from the start and before of our country. For example, even it was established that one could carry their loaded firearm into congress, harmlessly firing that gun off in congress would have caused the shooter some big problems.
If all of us gunners had just landed on planet gun, and the planet was unoccuppied, then we all could work on our "total, no compromise" way of owning guns. Unfortuntely, on the other side of the planet has landed another group. A group which is large, politically connected, well funded, well organized, and dedicated to taking away our guns. We have no choice but to figure them into the equation.
Now don't go accusing me of wanting to compromise our guns away. I don't want to lose my guns anymore than you. And over the years I have given up time, money and effort trying to help the best I could. Even if it could be proven that my help did nothing good, at least I was out there trying. That is a lot more than you can say about some of the people here on GB.com (not you or Highball) that criticize me for my positions. Those people have been nothing but free-riders and when it comes to them, people like you, me and Highball should at least be on the same side; The side criticial of freeriders.0 -

Want to talk about deviding people up ? What do you call THIS ?
Are you attempting to infer that somehow I am less 'American' because you don't read me protesting about the ENDLESS incursions into our freedoms ?
Allow me to give a short explaination;
If you have the brains God gave one of Locust Forks' cute, furry little mice...you know damn well the breathtaking, wholesale destruction of most of the tenets of the Constitution over the last 60 years. I am MUCH more aware of them then you, I wager..a healthy distrust of givernment being one of the lessons I learned well from the Founders.
One person CANNOT focus on EVERY aspect..every thrust..into the heart of American freedoms that the Elites have accomplished.
Therefore...I concentrate on the ONE freedom that secures them ALL...the Second Amendment.
When the guns are gone..the re-education camps will follow as surely as night follows day. You can make book on it.0 -
absolutely not highball. i would never think of calling you or anyone on this forum "un american". nearly all the people i have met here are very much the patriots i figured them to be. and i stand among them proud to be like them.
all i'm saying is that sometimes we get a bit too focused and passionate about one thing and end up destroying it. fighter pilots call it "target fixation". by no means did i mean to insult you or anyone else. if i did, i apologize. i am merely suggesting that sometimes we may be so fixated on saving the 2nd that other parts of the Constitution are being eroded...sometimes far worse than the attempts on good ole number 2.
all i'm saying is to take a step back, cool down, look at all of it then rationally proceed. this is where we keep getting caught up by those trying to take things away from us. they approach subjects like this from an emotional stand point, thrusting "facts" in our faces geared to evoke an emotional response from us. they poke and prod until we get so angry that we lash out then they say, "LOOK!!!! How can we let people like HIM have GUNS???" it's great to be so passionate about something as important as this, but we need not give THEM more fuel for their fire.
and our foes are sneaky. they bundle unrelated things together so that they may "pull one over" on us. they may tag a firearms ordinance on to something we really need like health care and hope we don't notice. then if we do and ojbect, we're evil because we don't wanna help sick people.
i don't know when, or how, but the day is gonna come when we will all stand as one and say "enough is enough"...we'll storm the doors and fix the things that are broken about this country. we have such great potential to be something greater than we are now. we just need to remove those in power who aspire only to personal gain and hold us back.
i hope i clarified my stance a little better.0 -

No offense was taken..and I meant none, either.
I was taking the opportunity to develop something that needed to be said for awhile.the common belief that just because a few of us concentrate on the Second.we are one-dimensional.
No..we center on that because of its overriding importance to the freedom of America.
As far as calling someone `Un American'..I have no other words to describe those working tirelessly to eliminate the Republic.
I use the word..often.
I use the word to describe people that REFUSE to think for themselves..REFUSE to even go read the documents that are the bedrock of America.
People that somehow think that in SPITE of the blood spilled by the Founders..defending their ARMS.we somehow today are more `civilized'..THAT SOMEHOW big government has thrown off the urge to dominate EVERYTHING..every single aspect of our lives.and only exists to do good for us..and therefore, we should allow big government to dictate the types/numbers/calibers and your worthyness to merely own a gun.
Paughhhhh !!!!0
