Please explain something
I live in the four corners and almost all hunts are on a draw basis,apparently to help build herds.Now Colorado and New Mexico are using helicopters and dart guns to sterilize some deer and elk herds at $200 dollars a pop because of overpopulation.Is it just me or does it seem that giving out more tags would be more profitable to the government[?]

I can't speak for New Mexico. In Colorado, the single biggest waste of money is the DOW. The hunting/fishing license I bought as a 14 year old kid for $7.50 is now $71.00[:(!] They suck! 0 -

Besides, it takes $700 per hour to fly the jet helicopters!

Handload, you are probably right about the value of the dollar, however, I see more folks on the payroll, more programs, and worse hunting out here in eastern CO. [:(!] The fishing is about the same, but costs far more than it did back then.[:(!]0 -

there was an article in one of last,last yr's '06 RMEF bugle magazine. In the article they mentioned using sharpshooters in the small town of Estes Park. which is on the eastern fringe of the park. I don't think allowing hunters to wander town is a good idea. The elk should be taking by conventional methods already practiced.0 -

State Rep Jerry Sonnenberg (65th District) often uses his Thursday segment on my morning show to call the public's attention to the abuses of D.O.W. And there are many. Their heavy-handed tactics here in NE Colorado are quickly wearing thin decent, law-abiding folks.0 -

In the mid west here they have deer hunts in city limits that are bow only. And you usually have to pass a proficiency test before you can go out and hunt.0
