Wireless Keyboard/Mouse questions.

Last night my cheap Dell mouse was acting up. So like any good person I smashed it off the table. Amazingly that didn't fix it and might have even made it worse [:0].

So I figure I will get a wireless keyboard and mouse set. Had planned to do this anyways but just not now.

Is there anything I should look for or to avoid?

Price is a big determination, I am looking at a Microsoft one on ebay for about 20 shipped and also a Logitech one for roughly the same. They are refurbished.

    I looked them both up on Amazon and the Logitech got better reviews, but I like the look of the Microsoft better.

    i like mine and it likes batteries get lots and lots of batteries,
    mouse eats at least 2AA a month.[:(]

    I don't have a wireless keyboard, but have had a wireless Logitech mouse for a couple of years. As chevelle427 said, be ready to invest in either rechargable batteries, or LOTS of new ones. This thing eats about a pair every two weeks (good batteries too, not cheap!). Finally bought rechargables and they have lasted a year so far.

    Does any company make a wireless mouse that sits on a charge base when you are not using your computer?

    I could see a wireless mouse being smashed for having dead batteries.

    microsoft makes one with a base for recharging,..somewhere in the 35 dollar range, save your money on the keyboard unless your in need of one,..check..circuit city out,..Loko

    Thanks, I think i've already been talked out of wireless.

    I can find decent mice on ebay for about $5. Plus they are optical, the old mouse was always having trouble with the little ball not working properly.

    I've had the same wireless mouse and keyboard by Logitech for about 3 years. Never had an issue. Batteries usage is nominal (about twice a year).

    Another case of "gettin what U pay for".The high-end ones, Logitech or M/S,will work better and last longer on a set of batteries.

    When we did our remodeling I bought new wireless keyboard/mouse sets for both computers in my home office ... went with Microsoft, they were about $60/set at Sams Club ... in 5 months I haven't replaced a set of batteries yet ... there is no laser in the mouse ... or at least not the typical red-light laser like I have in my wireless mouse at work that goes through a set every month.

    Would buy Logitech anytime before Microsoft.

    I am taking your word for it. Have just ordered the one in your link. I am also going to get 4 rechargeable batteries and swap between the mouse and keyboard about once a month.

    i have the microsoft set.., but soon will be throwing it all away, going to get new Apple iMac, was supposed to get one for Christmas, but it did not have Leopard so i am waiting till the base exch. gets in the all new model with 22" screen.

    Thanks again for recommending this set. I just received it today and all I had to do was plug it in. The computer recognized it and it works great. I was thinking I needed to load software but everything seems to work great without it.

    The keyboard feels different, not bad just different than I am used to, but the mouse is super smooth and great since the old one was getting worse by the day.
