Class 3 FFL question
Is it possible to get a BATF Class 3 FFL in a state that prohibits all civilian ownership of NFA weapons?

No. the feds can not supercede the state. That is tech. what the LEO sign off is for and although with the living trust you can side step the signiture process its still illegal.

I'm not talking about purchasing an NFA title 2 weapon. I meant the license to sell NFA weapons.
I know it is possible to get the Class 2 manufacturer's FFL in a NFA prohibiting state, just wondering about the Class 3 sales license.0 -
Yes it is legal or at least in some states. I am in WA and "normal" people can not own MG, SBS, or SBR. We have several C3 dealers that sell DD, AOW's, and Suppressors. Many of them have and stock FA guns for legal buyers. Mostly it is so that they can legally have fun toys.
Legal buyers have to get them from somewhere, so there has to be a dealer somewhere in state. LE is not exempt from ATF laws, they just have a different form to fill out.0 -

I'm moving this summer, and after the move I will be applying for my FFL. I figured I'd go ahead and get the Class 3 license while I was at it. I think I can get a couple local departments to buy from me since I am friends with the Chief and Sheriff, and my PD is about to expand the SWAT team so they'll be making some purchases late this year as well.
Plus, it'd obviously be nice to be able to play with some of the NFA toys that are normally illegal in Illinois outside of LEOs on duty.0
