Which program to Rip and Copy DVDS?

I'd like to back up my DVD collection and make home movies so which program is a good one to use?

    It depends on whether you want to copy them onto double layer dvds or onto the cheaper single layer discs. It also depends on whether or not you want to retain the menus from the original disc or just have the actual movie. Most of this you can do with free software and a DVD burning program like Nero. You should be aware that new dvds are becoming increasingly difficult to copy.

    nero will not burn copyrighted dvd's


    best program is "ripit4me"

    you will need "dvd decrypter", and "dvdshrink"

    i have not found a movie yet i could not rip to dvd with every detail, and quality of the original, dvdshrink will compress a full double layer movie to a single layer dvd, it does help if you remove the foreign language from the menu, you can knock off a gig by doing this

    I went to slysoft.com . I got ANYDVD and CLONEDVDII. I copy evrything I get from BLOCKBUSTER and keep a copy for my self. Easy and fast.

    I also just got a little thingy that plugs into the usb port on the front of my 'puter and has A/V and S-video plugs to pull video from the vhs tapes I need to back up. I just have to go find a working vhs player.

    +1 on :

    Clone DVD 2 as the actual burnerprogram and
    AnyDVD as the decrypter-program that will allow you to copy protected dvd's and cd's.

    I only have them on trial basis, going on 10th day or so - but I love the programs.


    AnyDVD will also allow you to play other regioncodes on your computer, if it is locked to one specific region.

    You might not want to admit to that in a public forums since it is a violation of federal law.

    It might depend on the dvd players you use.

    I have an older Pioneer dvd player that absolutely hates and back up DVD's burnt on DVD+R's

    I need to use DVD-R for it.

    For ripping DVDs, you could refer to the site in my signature below, it will provide you best dvd ripping software and applied tips for ripping any dvd... For make dvd by yourself, i recommed Nero dvf copy .
