I can understand trying, in small ways, to relive one's youth. Occasionally, I'll stand on the throttle of my lil' Dodge V-8 when the light turns green. Ok so here's my question... why are all the teachers women? Why do you rarely see men getting in trouble for the same thing? I would figure its because teenage girls can keep their mouth shut about sex better than teenage boys can.
I cant say much... I was on the student side when I was in school. It wasnt right but it wsa fun. He and I are still friends and he is now married to someone who was 4 yrs behind me in school!0 -

In my high school, a male guidance counseler (never met one that wasn't useless!!) married a student. Actually captain of the cheerleading squad!
Another male teacher from a nearby district, married a student. Then came back to our district as a teacher and ended up being the Superintendent!!!0 -

Legal? There's a good question.
Rape? That's where the law and reality tend to diverge.
Sex is a part of human nature. Hormones tend to cloud judgment. More so perhaps in young people as a rule, but true to an extent in all of us. And not only in humans! Did you ever run across a male grouse smitten by love? Talk about love making one blind!
How many males among us at the age of twenty haven't looked at a female twice our age and wished for an "education"? And while my generation mostly denied the fact, it seems that females sometimes have the same thoughts. Imagine that!
And this is different at the tender age of thirteen for either sex? I don't think so! The only difference being possibly a bit less brainpower, but just as much sex drive.
As within every community we had what I then considered an "older" woman who "taught" a good number of us young males about sex. (I was too frightened to partake, but it was a close call.) As I look back, I believe that "she" was no secret to the community in general. "She" was officially disapproved of, yet there seemed no real sentiment to reform this woman.
So I wonder... Might it have been that the community realized that a good number of the young male population was going to "learn" sooner or later and that if sooner, at least it wouldn't be with their teenage daughter by force?
Don't get me wrong, there were still teenage daughters getting pregnant... But I never heard it called rape! (I found out much later in life that there had actually been females of my own age that were more than willing.) Talk about stupid!
A teacher and student? Not ever a good combination. Inappropriate at best in private. Unacceptable in a public setting. Also morally wrong.
Should the teacher be dismissed? Absolutely! But we need to remember that there were two humans involved and neither was screaming to leave the room. Neither is innocent on this count! But I'm not sure that either is guilty of a crime as such.
To forever mark a human with the "scarlet letter" for having been a fool seems a bit harsh. To dismiss a teacher for having dealt inappropriately with a student is another matter entirely. To ban a teacher from teaching after such behavior is appropriate.
But jail and a felony record? For something few of us haven't dreamed about? For an act not having been forced on anyone? I have to wonder. And I'm about as conservative as anyone could hope to be!
That teacher will pay for the rest of her life even if not made a criminal. Male or female, I don't think my opinion would be different.
Stupid and impulsive is human nature, as is sex. Forced sex is one thing, but consensual sex is another.0
