stopping smoking
I started taking CHANTIX this weekend to stop smoking. Things taste funny and I hate the world. When does it let up?

When you realize no one likes a quiter and light up again.[;)][;)]
Just kidding. I still smoke, but everytime I've tried to quit, a couple days is agony, then fine till the 2 week mark. Then fine till I decide I liked smoking and start up again.0 -
It dont ! I tryed it and it didnt work for me,it helped me cut down but thats all, except the crazy dreams, getting up at 3 in the morning because you cant sleep ect. And dont take without food 0 -
Just got a chantx thing in the mail, thinking i might go to the doc and try it out. 0 -
Do not know.
But I wish you success!0 -

172 days and still going strong!
I quit with the patch (21mg) due to their free availability thru the State Health Dept., took almost 4 weeks to take the edge off.
Once the nicotine is out of your system; start eating lots of fresh fruit, leafy green veggies, and for some reason; peanuts-you'll crave them.
I remember that smokes tasted funny after eating a few Tagamet; must be some reaction between the nicotine and the taste buds.
Keep up the good work!
'Course, if you hang around with jerks, you'll feel like a prince!0 -
The cost was 133.98 for a month but insurance paid all but 33.00 so thats not that bad. 0 -
I tried many times over the years with no sucess, then one day when I had a bad cold lit up and started coughing severly. I threw the cig. down and made up my mind that 'who needs this'. Since that day I have never ever had a yearn for another cig. And I carried the remainder of that pack in my shirt pocket for two weeks. That was sixteen years ago and to this day there has never been a yen for another smoke.
What it boils down to is that you HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND that you don't need them.

It lets up very soon. Keep going. It gets easier every moment you don't relapse. I took the patch for about two weeks then took it off and just powered through about three mildly bad days and the nicotene craving went away. 0 -
I just went to their web site and registered for the support help. Has anybody else done the support thing and does it help? 0 -
smoking is for idiots! start a workout program where you need your lungs to their full capacity and you will rapidly decide to quit. 0 -
I had used gun, patches and wellbutrin, all without success. It took a hospitalization from severe bronchitis in 2004 and the loss of 15 percent of my lung capacity from that little episode to go cold turkey.
Downside, hurts the fist couple of months with crankyness, weight gain and the first social engagements where everybody is lit up except yourself. You can do man, don't give up.0 -

what did you use the gun for[:D][:o)]0 -
OOPS, that was gum, however the first two weeks after quiting was enough to make me want to suck on the of a gun, but it slowly ebbed off after that. 0 -

GOOD luck. Hope it works for you. 0 -
Great decision you made! Hang tough and go for it! I'm into year 13 and the patch was tough to keep lit![;)] 0 -

I used the site, I log into it each day to see exactly how many days ago i quit and to also see how much not buying cigarettes has saved me. For the first couple months they give you small assignments to do, and I did them....Some of them sort of seemed odd, but I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.0 -
Hang in there.
Don't DRINK for a month or two. Don't go to a bar for a month or two.
I have no idea about the medication. I haven't smoked for well over five years now. No meds, just beat the crap out of everyone that worked for me for about a month!0 -
Dunno. I quit a month ago cold turkey. "Quit"- I have had 3 cigarretes since then but only when I found one tucked here or there in the apartment- haven't bought any.
Took me about 2 weeks to get over the cravings, but I still occasionally will go 'snap, I would REALLY like a smoke.'0
