Vicks Dogs
They say they are being retrained. But would you trust one. What will be the trigger that sets them off.

I saw a news report the other day, they are being rehabilitated to be around people again. The cool thing about it is Mr. Vick himself is handling the bills for it.
Personally, and I am no expert, I believe the dogs should be destroyed. A powerful breed and a ruined temperament are not a good mix for a "family" dog.0 -
Saw the report(or at least heard it I was on the Computer and listened to the report) from what he did to those dogs he should get even more time than he has now.

They have assessed all the dogs, they sent about a dozen that they deemed ok around people, out to California where they are being adopted.
They sent about 15 that were real bad off to a place in Colorado, and most will not be adopted. They figured that they could feed and house each mutt for $18,000 for life, and Vick is paying for that.
Yes when I read that Vick had pulled all the teeth from one of these dogs, with no anesthetic, I realized that he needs more time in jail, and maybe he needs a few teeth pulled without anesthetic.0 -
I myself, being the cautious person I tend to be wouldn't deem it feasable to retrain the dogs. Something could go wrong in training injuring a trainer or ever worst an unknown stimuli will affect it in its new home causing it to revert. 0 -
While you can re-train them to a certain extent. It is doubtfull you can train out reactionary behavior. As long as they are kept out of what they see as a threatening environment they will be controlable. If you take them out for a walk and encounter another dog that causes them to feel threatened chances are the "game is on" and they will revert back to their "training". Kind of like trying to take the "wild" out of a wild animal. 0
