A strobe light for squirrels?

They make a strobe light that you hang in your attic. It is supposed to run squirrels off.
Anybody ever tried this thing?

I know the cost is high. The deal is, the house is in Atlanta, 4 hours from here. I can't even go up into the attic due to my broken knee.
Pest control companies charge an arm and a leg to take care of problems like this, my girlfriend has heard of them charging $3,000 to trap the squirrels and close off the openings where they get in. That is a ridiculous cost but that is Atlanta, one reason I don't live there any more.

    I don't need a strobe light. All i need is my trusty 1961 Benjamin pellet rifle. Squirrel legs fried up right is delicious.

    Allen, all I can say for sure is that the ultra sonic sound machines don't keep anything away.

    Yeah a few IR motionsensors and regular strobe lights should do the trick too, that is - if the motionsensor is sensitive enough.
    Keep in mind that a lot of motionsensors can allow for cats and small dogs to move around freely.

    Regular strobelights are often focused beams - but can be bought as strobe beacons too offcourse.

    It should be possible to find something that can be used - but a few focused beam strobes from the kiddies toystore, set on slow flash rate and permanently on.. that should do the trick. And it doesn't take so much power, as the strobe is produced by charging some capacitors and discharged at intervals.


    Cheap strobes can interfere with the radio and tv, giving off "CLICK" sounds when it discharges. Normally this is no problem.

    That is not to far from where I work.

    Have you tried Hav-a-Heart traps and a gumbo pot?

    Well my girlfriend is handling this. She got up in the attic and is convinced that she ran the squirrel off. So she got some hardware cloth and tried to seal up the opening the damn squirrel had made, she said the hole is the size of a grapefruit.
    She bought a havahart trap but has not set it yet.
    She ordered that strobe light and will put it in on Saturday.

    I told her that the proper sequence is:
    1 Try the trap
    2 Run the strobe light for two weeks
    3 Seal off the hole

    Guess what! She is ignoring my advice and doing it her way. So if she blocked the opening, and the squirrel is trapped in the attic, when she shows up there on Saturday there will be a dead squirrel in the attic.
