Who Wants To Do This test ??

today i was argueing with a friend over some stupid stuff. he claimed that if he wore 30 regular Hanes cotton t-shirts that they could stop a .22 round and possibly a 9mm round.
i wouldnt try this on a person but i actually think 30 shirts might stop a .22. what do you think ?

    I do not think that 2 1/2 or 3 inches of cotton would stop a .22 LR.

    fold a tee shirt several time leaving it loose. Fold it until you have 30 layers loosely stacked. Stand back and blast away. Report results here. [;)]

    Well this is interesting. I was just about to donate a bunch of clothes including a bunch of old undershirts. I just might have to fish them out and wrap them around a bucket or something and see it through

    30 tight layers of hanes might stop the 22lr, I know a crisp new carhart jacket can stop a 22lr from a pistol at about 100 yards.

    A few years ago took a report on a guy who got shot by a ruger MkII and the round stuck in the inner padding of the coat. Juvenile shooter fessed up, and he was 100ish yards away on his back porch when he fired the shot.

    my kevlar vest that i have says it is not rated for 22lr so why would the shirts stop it

    Anyone willing to wear 30 Hanes T-shirts on a crackpot theory such as that really should be shot regardless of their attire just on the principle alone to stop the possibility of future breeding.

    Never heard of a kevlar vest saying it is not rated for 22lr, unless it is a stab vest. Even the original Level 1 vests were rated to stop the HV 22lr.

    I am willing to try it. but I have a better test. Take a silk hankie hang it from a clothes line by two clothes pins and try to shoot it, you cant.
    how many of you dont know what a clothes pin looks like

    I think it might. 30 t-shirts is a lot, none of it gives much resistance and the chest isn't exactly like a block of wood either. I'd like to get a bunch of tshirts and try it. not on myself of course.

    anybody know a place around st. louis you can go out in the woods and shoot your .22 with no problems?
