New computer

Just hooked up my new computer. 5.6 processor, 4 gigs RAM, 750 hard drive. It is fast! If I was computer literate I would be all set. So much more than I need but maybe I'll get better. Right. Better chance of Obama being a great President than me becoming good with a computer. Oh well, at least I'm honest about my computer skills, or more correctly, lack thereof.

    Just hooked up my brand new Dell 660s Inspiron tower with Windows 8.
    This s o b is faster than a 264 with 85grs, it's right up there with ropin' steers and sex with the lights on.[:D][:D]

    Spent all afternoon yesterday sitting up and getting familiar with a new computer. Old one was 5 years old and on its last legs. Now I'm going nuts trying to learn this new Vista program. Sure wish I could have gotten a good system with XP for an operating system.

    I'm not sure I have email set up correctly. Would someone please email me for a test? Forgot to take email addresses out of the old computer,so I've got to set it up and copy them out tonight.

    Finally got a new computer,its a cisnet,was gona buy a dell but couldnt get much sense out of the sales guy I spoke to on the phone,couldnt even get shipping cost out of him.With this computer comes 3 months of msn for three months free,at the moment I have aol and that is definitely going.Any one got any of these cheap dial up internet systems like juno,peoples or netzero.Is it worth paying the extra for the high speed versions or is that a con.We cannot get dsl in my area yet unfortunately.

    well, I'm tired of the crappy performance of my laptop with Vista
    is this laptop/price any good? I don't do video games. just need something to surf, email and run Office 2007. will this thing work with a bluetooth mouse out of the box?

    good luck with Vista, I haven't heard anything but bad things about that OS

    i personally switched to Ubuntu Linux, and i'm not much of a computer geek, its really user friendly, fast, and simple.

    you can "try" it out easy, just download a "live CD", from a popular linux distro, boot your computer from the disk you burnt, and try out an entirely new operating system.

    vista now has almost enough updates for a service pack, i personally think it is the best thing that has ever happened to the computer industry, i have had zero problems with it

    i do admit it is not the most novice user friendly os at first but once you get it set up correctly it is awesome, ready boost and super-fetch works fantastic, the problem now is people do not like change i remember when xp came out no one liked it ether, but like it or not xp will go away sooner or later just like win 95-98, better to get on board now

    The computer I bought for my mom had Vista on it,........no issues to speak of, after I set everything up for her.
    I still have XP Media Center myself.

    xp here but all of our outside inspectors have vista since that's all you can really buy now days. it's major hell trying to explain to them how to do this or that over the phone....

    I never convert to a new OS until it has been in the field for two years.

    Gates uses end-users as unlabeled beta testers.

    But, not using me.

    I bought a new computer last week and didn't have any trouble making up my mind. Dell was the only one I could find still offering XP.
