This is almost unbelievable

Buddy Holley has been dead for forty-nine years today. It seems like a very long time, but not forty-nine years.

    Thanks for the buzz-kill James. I was feeling pretty spry today, but now that I remember how I actually heard the news on the AM radio of Buddy Holly and the Big Booper crashing, I don't feel so young anymore.[:(]

    Buddy Holly is the man who gave you the Beatles. They tried to model themselves after Buddy Holly and the Crickets as much as possible. They even chose the name "Beatles" because it was as close as they could get to the "Crickets". He was also an influence on Elvis.

    To call him the father of rock-n-roll would probably be an exaggeration, but he had a HUGE influence.

    My wife is from Lubbock and I was stationed at Reese AFB in the early to late 80s.

    Alot of people do not realize that Mac Davis is also from Lubbock and Jimmy Dean is from nearby (Shallowwater IIRC).
