I had high hopes for Thompson, but after seeing the debates and the campaign coverage, I don't think he has a chance. He seems as tired all of the time and ready for a rocking chair. 0 -

What exactly does Mexico have that we need? I am serious, as I do not really know. It seems to me we buy some stuff from down there (we lose domestic sales), and of course outsource auto assembly (we lose jobs), but that does not seem to be a symbiotic relationship - more of a parasitic one. So if we "close" the borders, who does that really hurt?
Of course that would negatively effect their economy creating instability, that is in our best interest not to get into a Mexican civil war. But other than that???0 -
Fred has a very weak record when it comes to the Second Amendment.
I'm leaning towards Huckabee. I don't really like him (I think the Gov't will continue to grow under him), but he's the only real viable candidate that I see.
Ron Paul is not a natural leader and I do not agree with his foreign policy...he almost seems like he wants to stick his head in the sand.
Romney has flip flopped on too many issues and his stance on the Second sucks.
McCain is a rabid liberal...a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Gulliani is a socialist and is also very liberal.0 -

1. Definition: "Sanctuary" has as many variations as "amnesty," but nomatter what definition of 'sanctuary' your local officials tell you theydon't offer, anytime an illegal alien is told that the police will turna blind eye-- it's sanctuary.
2. Excuse #1: "Asking about citizenship is racial profiling / violatingconstitutional rights." Handling foreign nationals is nothing new toDenver; they've been doing it since 1969 when the US joined the ViennaConvention on Consular Relations. Article 36 requires police to notifythe consulate of arrested foreign nationals. That means Denver would havedeveloped guidelines in place to identify and handle foreign nationalsmore than three decades ago! Only two different things from handling US citizens: = call their consulate to advise the foreign national is in custody = call ICE to determine if they're legal or illegal
3. Excuse #2: "Immigration laws are complex." Immigration is no more"complex" than tax laws, divorce laws, custody laws, and criminal laws.That's why lawyers specialize. Past "kid-glove" handling of immigrationlaw violations were due to political correctness and pandering, NOTcomplexity or public safety principles. Immigration violations should betreated like any other crime and its violators like any otherlawbreakers.
4. Excuse #3: "Immigration laws are divisive." So is any legal dispute. Have you ever been to probate court where heirs fight over money andproperty in an estate? Have you ever been to divorce court? THAT'SDIVISIVE! 5. Excuse #4: "It's a federal law." So are bank robbery and kidnapping,yet Denver PD doesn't tell callers "We don't handle federal crimes,you'll have to call the FBI."
6. Excuse #5: "Too time-consuming." Bureaucrat John Hickenlooper claimedthat Denver can't do immigration checks during routine encounters. Translation: "The illegal alien numbers have increased so much during 20years of sanctuary that we now have too many to arrest." Hickenlooperdoesn't claim "There are too many drug dealers to arrest." Or "There aretoo many child molesters for us to lock up." Or "There are so many drunkdrivers for us to get off the road."
7. Excuse #5: "Officers will be 'waiting around' for ICE." Police areprimary responders (first on the scene and last to leave) and routinely"wait around" for auxiliary services like Fire, paramedics and ambulanceand Bomb Squad. After everyone else leaves a traffic accident, officersremove highway debris. Do officers radio for help, tell the citizen "theBomb Squad is on the way" and take off?
8. WHAT IS OPS 1.4.3?
We've heard it's a "sanctuary" order, but what does that mean? To findout, get a copy of your city's sanctuary order and go through it with afine-toothed comb. You may be surprised, and likely will be appalled.
Denver police ARE FORBIDDEN to call "Immigration"" on illegal aliens forfelonies like: Reckless Endangerment, Homicide, DUI, Hit & Run,Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, Rape, Forgery, Fraudulent Schemes,Lewd Behavior, Extortion*, Identity Theft*, Breaking & Entering,Kidnapping*, Burglary, Robbery, Manslaughter, Hostage-taking*, ChildMolesting, Public Drunkenness, Assault & Battery, Assault with a DeadlyWeapon.
*unless violating CO human smuggling law Misdemeanors and "Agricultural Trespass" give the illegal alien an evenbetter deal. No call to "Immigration," they're generally released afterpromising to appear in court and then promptly go AWOL.

Exactly the way it is around here. Small buisness (service and retail) owners are working their butts off because they no one wants to work unless it's $25/hr. M-F day work. They'd rather sit on their azz. I work at a large industrial plant that works three shifts, 7 days a week. 20 years ago, people lined up to work there. Now they are begging for workers. It pays $17 avg. with very good benefits but it's shift work and few can pass the drug test. Those that have worked there for a while are racking up the overtime and riding H3's and Lexus's and buying rental property.
Business owners need the labor. I ain't saying it's right, just the way it is.0 -
