HANGMANS NOOSE
just read in the paper that the state of merryland is trying to make it illegal to place a noose on other property other than your own. seems that it relates to hate. i guess it will be against the law to hate. the state is also trying to make it illegal for truckers to have those shiny chrome naked ladies fastened to their rig

Why would it be legal to place a noose or any other item on property other than your own?
Now getting rid of the chrome ladies, that's blasphemy! I'm curious how many will support keeping the ladies who just recently hated the testicles?0 -
i guess what they were refering to was in a public place? 0 -
A noose is sometimes used as racial insult and threat of violence referring to the practice by viloent racist groups in the South of lynching blacks when they got too "upppity."
While I generally oppose most laws, I have to confess that I don't know why anyone would be placing hangman's nooses around town unless it was meant to intimidate black people.0 -
They then should make graffiti ilegal on any property other than your own as much of it has racial connotations and is a symbol of hate. O wait.... it is.....though you'd never know it. 0 -

In the last century plenty of blacks were lynched in Indiana and Ohio.
Somehow there is a notion that all the racists dwell in the South.0 -

You haven't noticed? It IS ilegal to hate.
You can beat a guy half to death with a baseball bat - but God help you if you utter something like, "Take THAT - you damned REDSKIN!" ... automatic Federal felony!

I think it's a good idea to stop all of this noose hanging events, and that includes the black artist that goes around insulting white people and inciting hate with his desecration of the southern flag and gallows display that is so sheik for today's communist loving hate mongers. 0 -

Let's see. It's legal to burn the flag as a means of expressing your opinion of the government, even if you hate the government - as long as your are a liberal peacenik, illegal alien, or hippy.
It's legal to stand in a pulpit and preach racial hatred against another group of people - as long as you are black activist preacher.
It's legal to write, sing, and record a song that encourages hatred of certain civil servants (policemen), even to the point of killing them with a shotgun - as long as you are a black rapper.
But it should be illegal to display a noose - especially if you are a white supremacist.
Amendment I - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
shall be amended to:
Amendment IA - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof unless it offends one person; or abridging the freedom of speech except for hateful statements, or of the press, unless the conservatives get a majority of talk radio; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble unless they fail to get a parade permit, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances so long as they fill out all the required forms.
Freedom of speech (and expression) cuts both ways.0 -
+1, except no one want's to listen to Liberal talk radio.[}:)]

This is some bad news gonna relly cut down on my partyin fun. Yep Jus kiddin you goobers. 0 -
Again why must we pass laws just to stop distasteful behavior.
Where is the injury, the loss, in this type of behavior?
Just more liberal mind set that the government knows best.0 -

I understand what you are saying, but this is a threatening gesture. I am not sure where I line up on this, but if I came home and found one attached to my front door, I would consider it an assault.
Injury? Scaring the living hell out of me and my family?
Sort of like someone threatening to kill you. Kinda serious, not just poor taste.0 -

I hear you. Now, how do you feel about stirring up hate and discontent among white people? For example: What's your take on the hanging/gallow displays in Gettysburg, PA, and in South Carolina by the black artist? And, the media attention it gets in an effort to paint southern heritage as racist, and the southern people as terrorist.0 -

I disagree with anyone stirring up hate other than me.
What's your take on the hanging/gallow displays in Gettysburg, PA, and in South Carolina by the black artist?
Haven't seen it, however, if it is historically accurate i would be against "white washing" it.
And, the media attention it gets in an effort to paint southern heritage as racist, and the southern people as terrorist.
Media sells stories to make money, there is a market for them. I have a general distrust/dislike of the media's motives, however.0 -

Would you consider it historically accurate, and appropriate, for a white artist to build a hangmans gallows display to scale, say, in downtown Chicago and/or New York City, in a prominent place, of course, with the American Flag hanging from the noose, and call it art?0 -
Weren't there plenty of white guys hanged by the neck until dead? 0 -
Laws that serve to dictate taste are nothing less than fascist. This would make it illegal, for example, to have a noose in a stage production or on a movie set. Stupid.
Again, laws to make criminal juvenile or distasteful behavior and far worse than stupid, they are the beginning of a police state. The chrome babes on mudflaps are childish at very best, but if guys want to desplay the fact they they are cases of arrested emotional development, that should certainly not be criminals. We will always, without exception, be worse off if we let Mrs. Grundy dictate behavior or acceptable patterns of thought.
I abhor rascism, but other laws should cover this already.0 -
This law is another example of a large waste of time by the government to produce chicken droppings. Does the state of maryland not have more important things to worry about? Like maybe schools, rising energy costs, employment problems ect.... not on whether it is illegal to hang a noose up. 0 -

I've never heard of a U.S. flag being hanged so historically accurate makes no sense in this context.
Sounds like an accurate statement about this time we live in and I would tend to agree that the US is at the doorstep of the gallows right this moment if we don't change our direction.
They should put a picture of Congress in the hangman's noose. Then not only would I agree with it, I would buy one!0 -

You ask a lot of questions, some of which make little sense, and yet provide no substance or argument or opinion either in agreement or to the contrary.
If I wanted to have a conversation like this I would simply go over to the head injury clinic.
Either give your reasons or step off.0 -
