When bad things happen to good people - rant.

Laid my best friend to his final resting place. He was more than a friend, more like a brother.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and godfather to countless children. Married 28 years ago to the only woman he ever knew; his childhood sweetheart. He was a construction worker by trade and part time commercial fisherman. He was a skilled captain, and an accomplished diver and spear fisherman. Never smoked, never drank, never listened to loud music. Even attended church twice weekly. Always had a kind word for everyone he met, and a kinder action to back his word.

Underwent two exploratory surgeries and two sets of chemotherapy. Died last week of metastatic colon cancer at the young age of 47. May the Lord keep him in His glory.

Life is short and unfair. Bad things must sometimes happen to good people.

Nothing I can do or say will ever bring back my friend. All left for me to do is to advise my brothers at GunBroker to have a yearly physical exam, and most important, to listen to your family Doctor. Please keep him in your thoughts or in your prayers.

    No one should die of colon cancer. It is the only totaly preventable cancer. I know the thought of haveing someone shove feet of tube up the rear end is not that pleasant but it is the biggest non event you will go through.

    50 if no family history,......40 if there is.
    Those were the last recs that I am aware of.

    Tough break. Guy sounds/reminds me alott of ME.I'm pushin 47, no history of Colon Cancer, but alott of Prostate/ Lung Cancer.Both on my mom's side, wich i "favor".No insurance, no savings, no hope for me .

    Sorry for your loss Psycho. I lost a good friend three years ago to a sudden heart attack. He was also my doctor. Had no symptoms but when it happened, he knew it was over. Doctor that I go to now has wanted me to get a colonoscopy but with the insurance that I have, good old bluecross/blueshield, it will still cost me $1800 out of my pocket. Just don't have that kind of money right now[:(]

    Everything has a reason - something to be learned by everyone smart enough to
    understand that and what we may think we don't understand will probably help
    us sometime down the line. The older I get, the more clear things seem to
    appear.
