How much?

Just how much energy and resources are being wasted to have these political conventions? Fuel for aircraft, taxis? Salaries for the added security folks? Food and entertainment? How much of that food gets wasted and thrown away without regard to peopel in some countries starving?

Wasteful.

    Are all-yallz getting back from State and Federal?

    I'm getting $1192 from the Feds and $396 from state. I'm going to be paying some bills.

    Is a "fair share" for the so called rich in America? Seems no Democrat can answer that...... I say why punish those who are living the American dream?

    Seriously, do we really need to continually pay the way for those who refuse to help themselves to all the programs we have out there?

    I am kinda looking at used pop-up tent trailers.

    I am not too picky on condition just as long as the canvas is in desent shape and it is useable. I just want something to take the kids camping this summer and possibly for a trip to CA for them to see grandparents. But I don't want it to leak if we happen to get into some rain.

    Any ides an what kinda prices I could be looking at?

    You should recalculate your withholding and stop loaning your money to the Federal/State governments and invest it. However, if you don't believe you have the fiscal discipline to invest the money, perhaps the government's interest free savings program is best for you.

    I'll be writing the Feds a check, no state income tax in Texas!

    I have not done my taxes yet, but the questimate is $3k back from fed and $1k from state. They should pay interest on these.

    geez!!you guys get a double whammy!!!..at least we only have to pay federal tax!!..the states can go jump!!...it is illegal for the states to collect taxes here..at least the people who drew up our constitution saved us a few bux..its about the only thing they did do for us [V]

    What with the wife's $88,000 (And still counting) new knee in October, we will be getting some back - just don't know how much yet.

    I've been preaching OLD COLTS message for years to folks who seem to have some great sense of pride in how much they're getting back....... when he said it exactly right, they US GOV is using YOUR money FREE for however much of the year they started collecting what you're getting REFUNDED....... notice that word on the forms...... amount of your REFUND....... which means you are getting back what YOU paid in.

    IF you can't accurately predict what your tax burden is going to be, i.e. income vrs deductions, etc., then at least get your withholding set up to let you bring more home each week/month and put an amount in savings equal to what you get back and then you will at least have the interest above your savings.

    The absolute BEST position we can all be in come April 15th each year is we get nothing back, we owe nothing. Don't happen very often but I sure like to write them small checks versus getting something back from them. means I had my money longer than they did.

    We are getting back alot more than I've ever gotten back. It's because of all the medical, though.

    I, in my infinite wisdom, cashed in $7k in old bonds that I purchased back in the 70's.
    Interest was over $20k on which I have to pay income tax.
    Dunno what the hit will be, but I betcha it'll be substantial.

    "lindalecowboy" has it right. Take home more every month and get a little or pay a little at tax time. Lots of internet savings accounts paying over 5%. So "tazzer", you could have had well over $2600 stashed. I got slammed like "barto" the first time I cashed some bonds. Now I time it with little bites or with a writeoff that will wash the hit.
