My VA Rep just called...

After his boss went and reviewed my C-File, he said it looks like we will probably be able to get my claim back dated to at least May of 1997. He said that they saw where my claim was dated Oct of 1996, but that it wasn't stamped as received by the VA until May of 1997. He said I'll probably have several new physicals to go through and it will probably take several months, but things look very good. They are still trying to locate all of my medical records, etc...but things look good. Praise God for moving on this issue! It looks like this 11 year head ache may be coming to an end...[8D]

    Congrats, I'm always proud to see a veteran get some benefits they have coming. I ruined my back in the Navy in Vietnam and have suffered with it all my adult life and now I'm no longer eligible for ANY VA medical benefits due to all the new VA rules. I'm like number 8 on the list of 9 possibles and so I'm no longer eligible. I've tried to get my case reviewed and my injury declared "service connected" but they claim my medical records are "missing in action" and so I'm dead in the water (no pun intended).

    Hope you get everything you deserve....... and more

    You need to get a hold of a State VA Rep...All of my records have been "lost" for the last 11 years....including my claim. They just located my original claim that I submitted 11 years ago (the one they claimed did not exist). Supposedly all of my medical records, including my active duty records are lost, but my claim has been found. I would bet you a local state rep could help you out. They do not work for the VA. They work for the state, fighting for vets...

    It was likely sitting at the bottom of someones in basket. That is where my re-enlistment papers were found at DFAS when I didn't get paid for two months.

    Your topic reminds me though that I need to make a copy of my medical record before I retire.

    Hope they treat you like they have me. Just got a very large check but still do not know why. Had a claim in to adjust my percentage, think it was approved.

    Health care for me has been great also. JUst had both wrists worked on for Carple Tunnel and Had a triple By Pass dec 06. Did not cost me a dime, but then all were service related.

    I feel for those who do not get a good rep or end up with their file lost. Lucky for me I had copies of all medical records when I left the service. This was to include all records of hospital stays. Had some good people watching out for me when I retired to guide me on what I needed to do.
