Furnace problem, help?
Gas furnace, spark type ignition.
When the t'stat calls for heat, you can hear the furnace try to light (tic-tic-tic-woomp) multiple times before it finaly catches. Once it does light off (after a dozen or so tries) it runs normaly until the t'stat is satisfied and than shuts down (again as normal).
Any ideas as to what I should check / tweak to get it to light off on the first try?
This unit belongs to my landlord, but as he's in his 70's I do try to do what I can to make things easier on him.

It sounds like your electronic ignition is trying to light a pilot lite that is dirty. Whatever kind of flame recognition the furnace has should also be cleaned. Money well spent for a service tech to give the ignition and burner a good cleaning. 0
