Given that she describes herself as a human pet - and is happy to walk around on a lead - Tasha Maltby is used to odd looks and even odder remarks.
But nothing had prepared her for the reaction of the bus driver who allegedly told the self-styled Goth and her boyfriend: "We don't let freaks and dogs like you on."
Miss Maltby and her fiance Dani Graves were so angered they have complained to the bus company of being "victimised"

"It is definitely discrimination, almost like a hate crime," 19-year-old Miss Maltby said yesterday.
The music technology student had this defence of her lifestyle.
"I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life," she said.
"I don't cook or clean and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."
The bus driver, however, has obviously not been listening.
He has repeatedly refused to allow Mr Graves, 25, and his "pet" on to his bus in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Last month, with Miss Maltby on a leash as usual, the couple tried to board a bus at the bus station.
The driver, who was off duty, was standing near the door.
Mr Graves alleged: "He shoved me off the bus. He called us freaks and he called Tasha a dog.
"He said, 'We don't let freaks and dogs like you on'.
"He basically grabbed my T-shirt and slammed me backwards.
"I got a bit angry and called him a fascist pig."
In a separate incident, police were called when the driver, who has not been named, refused to allow other passengers on board after the couple ignored his orders and sat down.
The couple, who live on benefits in a council house and plan to start a family, have been friends for years.
They started going out together in July and became engaged in November.
Paul Adcock, of bus company Arriva Yorkshire, said: "We take any allegations of discrimination seriously.
"Mr Graves has already contacted us directly and as soon as our investigation has concluded we will inform him of the outcome."

Is this the same as welfare and public housing? If so, then the UK is no better off than we are. They are broke...getting money...and thinking of bringing a kid (or is that a litter) into the world and have the masses pay for that too.
You are free to look and act like you want. But dont be surprised when society doesnt give you warm hugs. My wife does hiring interviews weekly with prospective employees. These kids come in with tattoos on their throat and face, facial piercings and the big stretched earlobes. She states that all of that will not be worn while at work and that shirts/blouses will be worn that cover up most of the tattoos. Mind you she is not against this stuff as she has some ink and has a piercing, but the tattoos are not seen when at work and the jewelry is not seen either.
Kids complain that they cannot get jobs. The applicants just do not understand that once they go to work for a company, it is not about THEM...it is how they represent the COMPANY.0 -

Well, some have horses indoor as pets (can't figure out of the horse whimpers to get let out - or they hinge the door like a big doggy-door) - and both horses and dogs have been known to be trained to get beer...

My haircut and the way two circus clowns dress and act in public are hardly equivalents. Apples and oranges. Yes, it's a free country but my right to speak my opinion about them or to their face does not end where their right not to be offended begins. I would say that my haircut is a far cry from being a form of deviance from societal norms. My grandfather had a military haircut from the day he enlisted in the Army to the day he died and he was an Iowa farmer. Yes, I would say that this haircut conforms to societal norms. There's a difference between a failure to conform to certain taste and deviance from societal norms.0 -
IDS: when I was in the military we were commanded to have "White Sidewalls" No where in Society was this the norm,,, Society couldnt care less how long my hair was in VietNam during the conflict, but the army insisted on their code of standard.. Hell for the first five years I was in the army no one had a mustache.. That is not the norm for society..In society each individual can wear their hair as they please and dress as they please. The Military had a standard of Dress when I was in and even had inspections of people going into town on pass to see that they were dressed according to army standards even if we were wearing civilian clothing.. Such things as No T-Shirts with out collars. NO Shirts without Sleeves. Society doesnt put a standard on anyone to these extremes..
How about shaving Does Society require its citizens to shave daily??
